I'll say 1-0, 2-0 at a push. I reckon we can turn them over this time. Billy, almost certain, then either Copps or Hayts.

2-1 Rovers. (2-0 HT) Sharp, Lockwood. Rovers hang on to go unbeaten in five.

I'd like to see the three CB formation given another outing, it looked so good against the Wolves, and perhaps give a bit of insurance whilst Killa finds his feet.

Brain tells me 2-1. Heart says 3-0

Pay back time as Reading got lucky in the first game and their fans were calling for Shane Longs head.

They are a one dimensional team. They have quick forwards to run on to the long channel balls but defensively, Mills is not the player he was with us.

Hayter had Mills in all sorts or trouble and no reason to think it will be the same. Bearing in mind Billy didn't play at Reading so we have the edge.

Mills M to have a mare and Mills J to shine.

Got a good feeling about this one. 2 - 0, Sharp and Hayter to score.

Friend on for Mills. Not clear if it's due to injury.

Half time - chance to re-group. Come on Rovers!

Reading playing well, forcing us to try far too much long ball. We need to start getting the ball down and working their full backs with some runs from Friend and Jimmy by the sounds of it.

Interesting substitutions - and earlier in the match than usual for SO'D!

Must be confident Brooker can last 30 minutes - sounds like progress to me

It is ordained - we do not beat Reading

Killa's had a good game today. IMO we're still short of a good CB to partner him.

I guess I was assuming his arrival meant that our defence was sorted!

Are Reading just playing really well then?  We have had no goal attempts on target and 5 off target (according to the BBC).

It sounds as thogh we just can't get our normal game together - is that because they know how to stop us, or are we having a bad day?
Title: Re:Doncaster Rovers v Reading
Post by: Barmby Rover on January 15, 2011, 04:47:28 pm
Correct. Reading have played well and Rovers have not worked hard enough to stay in the game. Oster has gone missing, Hayter was completely neutralised, the midfielders have hardly been mentioned. Woods has improved things. Perhaps he needs to replace Oster in midfield and have a bit more creativity in there.

Reality check! I'd begun to think that with the Kilgallon signing a play off place was a certainty! Not impossible, of course, but we're clearly far from invincible. If we get to the play off final and we're up against Reading we're buggered!

No doubt the knockers will be out in force.  We've had a few thrashings this season though it has to be said...  which worries me.

Having said that.... we need to maximise on these games in hand now.  Put a small run together and we can be right back in the mix.

A long way to go this season yet.

Agreed. Our season is far from over. My son will be crowing that Hull City are ahead of us in the table now! (He can't help it, he grew up in Hull!)

Didnt think Reading were that good to be honest which makes today all the more gutting.

I feel we badly miss Stock, far too many times Sam or Locky recieve the ball with a bit of space in front of them and go long to find nobody. Dont like the 5 defenders, especially not at home.

Nothing went right, we couldnt even pass to each other at times, Oster and Wilson kept giving it away and Sharp and Hayter barely touched the ball. Kilgallon looked good and is not frightened to get forward either.

Throw in an horrendous howler for Sully and its a really bad day at the office.
