What no thread yet??? We haven't lost all our cojones have we? (Sorry to the ladies on here!) Let's get those predictions in, ignore old Bob and his rant (old Bob, he will love that one!) Let's be good and positive today and send the vibes out via the internet.
Swansea 1 Rovers 2 ( Scarf, Scarf, Scarfetc etc)
Can we get these emoticons to come off strike wth the promise of a higher wage?
Briiliant!B) :silly:  :side:
-
I`m going for 1-3
Our makeshift striker Neil Sullivan getting our consolation goal and Chris Mortley playing a blinder at right back!
-
Can't see us getting much today - afraid that with current problems I'm going for a 0-4 (possibly 1-4, maybe Euell may grab one.) Talking of Euell, his goals to games ratio is about 1:4 but he could with a bit of a break hit his 100th goal while with DRFC, I think he needs 3!
Come on Rovers - shock us today!;)
-
Improved performance, but another defeat I'm afraid. :(
Swansea 3 Rovers 1 (Coppinger)
-
Hope I'm wrong, but fear another humiliation here. If we concede early,Swansea could easily equal Ipswiches tally. Frightening really.
-
Had a five on 5-0.
To Swansea obviously.
-
Hard to be optimistic really. My heart says we can sneak 2-1, my head says a 3-0 defeat.
-
Had a five on 5-0.
To Swansea obviously.
Oh great, just jinx us again why don't you.
-
Had a five on 5-0.

I see your thinking, with your luck you`re bound to lose that bet, one flaw though, you should have just backed Swansea to win, that way at least a point would come back to South Yorkshire
-
Hmmm I have no idea and sadly have been unable to keep up with the players' status this week.
Hope injuries have healed, psychies smoothed over and decisions spot on today!!
2-2 Donny to win of course! :-)

Now I know you are American, but even they must know that 2-2 is a draw! :P
Good positive thoughts Sandy!

Actually when I say that it refers to a thread about 6 mos ago or summat about headlines in the NY Post on the world Cup when US and Eng? (can't remember) tied -- which then was a reference back to a Harvard v Yale football game in which Yale (I think) tied, but it was hailed as a victory (moral if nothing else) as Yale never won them!
Sorry a bit early in the morn' for me to be thinkin' ;)

Match preview up on Viva Rovers (http://vivarovers.wordpress.com/2011/02/19/life-liberty-fraught-defeat-looms-swansea-city-preview/)
Sadly I've been laid up ill at home today having been set to go to the game. As such I'm predicting we'll get a point at least.
-
Team today
Sullivan, friend hird thomas mills oster keegan wilson copps moussa euell
Signed Franck Moussa on loan
On the bench
Woods, 23 Webster, 25 Guedes, 27 Kilgallon, 22 Shiels
-
Who is on the bench?
-
g.woods, souza, Webster, kilgallon, shiels. Burge has suffered an ankle injury. nothing changed there then :/
-
Only 5 on the bench then? Jesus. Thought he might have had Grayson on the bench as well.
-
Tough game at the best of times. Two players making their debuts, confidence low. Would be a great time to upset the odds and get a result !!
Funny old game football.
I fear for George with Nathan Dyer to contend with. Mussy played him off the park literally at the KM. Different gravy today. I hope George gets a foot in early just to give himself a bit of confidence.
Hird is due a stormer today and I think he's more suited to coping with their attack.
Come on boys, wear that badge with pride.
-
How come Grayson was on the bench on Tuesday but not today? 5 subs?? Have we given up before the game has even started.
-
I think we'll play a blinder today and scrape a 0-1 victory :)
-
Copps injured, surely it can't get worse?
-
This is just a joke. Copps not able to start. Shiels comes in.
-
5 on the bench just became 4, copps hasn't come out after the warmup, shiels replacing him. unbelievable.
-
Jesus! they`re falling like flies, injured in the warm up now!
-
so how many of our best starting 11 do we have here? 3? oster, mills, sulli?
-
He can join the Woods club, another injured in a warm up.
-
Here we go, another drubbing beckons!:(
-
Not the best of starts 1 - 0 down already
-
6 mins, one down.
-
According to FH, Copps has mysteriously not started or made the bench despite being named on the teamsheet.
Shiels starts instead.
Another sodding injury? :(
-
So that's - what? - 13 injured now…
Dumbuya, Chambers, O'Connor, Martis, Lockwood, Stock, M Woods, Gillet, Mason, Hayter, Brooker, and Sharp… Before the game.
And now Copps…
Chuffin' 'ell. It's going to be a long afternoon, and - I fear – a long rest of season.
Ugger.
-
Embarrasing.
-
God, I`m depressed already1 :(
-
Regardless of injuries. You'd have thought they'd show a bit of bottle after the last two dire performances. By the sound of it it is absolutely all Swansea.
Anyone who believes we are too good to be relegated are purely deluded.
-
It's like a training session according to FH. Swansea have had 90% of the possession and could be 5-0 up.
Dear me.
-
Those that like to grumble about Sam ought to think how he has put himself out today to stop another goal. If we play such weakened teams is it surprising that it is all Swansea? Rovers are being killed by a team that plays the way we normally do, and keeping posession. They are extremely good, and we are playing esentaially a reserve team with two new loanees in it. That is not embarrasing at all, it may be ineveitable, but not embarrasing.
-
It would have been a tough game at the best of times. With this many injuries, and with players dovetailed into the squad at late notice, etc., it'll be a miracle if we're not battered.
It's hardly embarrassing, but it is certainly frustrating.
-
I know you are 150% Doncaster Rovers Barmby but occasionally you really do need to take the rose tinted specs off.
It is EMBARRASING and no doubt come 4.50 it will be even worse than it is now.
-
Damn right it is frustrating, but there is alot of effort going into the defending from the team. Losing maybe, but showing some effort!

He was deservedly grumbled about following the Tuesday night debacle...other than that Id agree with the rest of that post.
I'll very rarely hope that Millwall and Derby get victories...but today is one of those days.
-

It is EMBARRASING and no doubt come 4.50 it will be even worse than it is now.
The only embarrasing fact about it is the relative weakness of our squad beyond our first choice eleven..asomething to address post season...and maybe will instigate the return of a bloody reserve team.
-
First half chance by Rovers at last. Come on lads!!
-
Derby are below us too! I think we've got to hope for a draw between Derby and Scunny, same from Palace v Blades too.
2-0 Swansea now. Balls.
-
Game over!
-
Damn right it is frustrating, but there is alot of effort going into the defending from the team. Losing maybe, but showing some effort!
Ahem! 2-0
-
It was over at 1-0
-
I think you will find that it was all over before we started!
-
Have we had a shot yet?
-
\"Doncaster Rovers lucky to have nil\" according to Skys Soccer Saturday.
-
Its just a question of how many we will concede. I think we must have the worst goals against record in the whole league now.
Something has to change, and soon.
-
If this were boxing the ref would have stopped it!
-
Which ever division we're in this time next year, hopefully the club will learn a valuable lesson from this season!

I wonder what Mr Ryan is thinking.
-
We have conceded 21 goals in the last 8 games!!!!
-
And 8 in the last one and a half.
-
I wonder what Mr Ryan is thinking.
I hope he is thinking that we need strength in depth to compete at this level.
Signing players on short term contracts ie Keegan, Burge, Thomas to name a few is not the answer.
If we stay in this division, if the board really does want us to perform and challenge for the play offs and serious money has to be spent in all areas of the team.
-
Which ever division we're in this time next year, hopefully the club will learn a valuable lesson from this season!
And what will that lesson be?
-
Committing more fouls is technically losing that category as well.
This injury situation is dire. Is it the physios fault? The pitch? The training methods? You aren't telling me its pure bad luck having 14 players out at once.
I'm surprised we're only 2-0 down, this will surely end at least 4-0.
-
Goal difference could be interesting at the end of the season.
By the way, Doncaster Rovers have now conceded just one fewer goal than Preston North End this season. With a defence like that, they'll be lucky to finish outside the bottom three.
Rigo with the \"they'll\" again.
Are you a DRFC supporter or what Rigo. If not, I don't think we need reminding of how shite our defense is.
-
Which ever division we're in this time next year, hopefully the club will learn a valuable lesson from this season!
And what will that lesson be?
Whether we stay up or go down, the club will know that next time we're gearing up for a season in this division, we MUST create an adequate squad, and not just an adequate starting 11.
Looking back, it sounds stupid, but I'd rather we didn't try and \"push the boat out\" and get to the play offs, because spending all the money on 1 or 2 areas of the team has had an adverse effect.
If we're in this league next year, the focus must be on stabilising and consolidating, not trying to push for the play-offs. The club will have to be more patient in their quest for a play off place. If it takes another 5 or 10 years, then fine, but we can't try to run before we can walk.
-
I'm putting the defensive problem into context. The way it is going, Doncaster Rovers will soon have the worst defence in the Championship. That for me would be more of an issue than any injury crisis, because regardless of who takes to the field they should still be competent enough to perform basic defensive duties (take a look at Ipswich's fifth goal on Tuesday night as an example of this duty not being peformed).
Still won't answer the question Rigo
-
On Tuesday it will be one month since a player in a Rovers shirt scored a goal.
-
Sam Hird now struggling - it gets better! Could this be another one for the treatment table
Question
Do we have enough treatment tables for the injured?
-

People have asked him that many times over the last few months and he never replies.
He is obviously not committed to our cause with quotes like the above. Like we need his f**king patronising b*llocks like that at this moment in time.
'They'll'. what a f**king joke.

Just seen a quote on the BBC live text that terrified me

I think that we have an adequate squad; it’s just unfortunate that the majority of them happen to be injured. You can’t account for that.
I remember back in October/November, with the same squad, we were in the top ten and pushing for play-off places – was the squad OK then. We have to accept that we operate on a budget and you have to run with what you have got.
When you say ‘spending all the money on 1 or 2 areas of the team has had an adverse effect’ are you suggesting that buying Billy was a mistake?
-
Sam Hird now struggling - it gets better! Could this be another one for the treatment table

If that is the case, then I make it that we've got more players injured than fit.
-

Exactly. I don't want to be patronised with comments like \"By the way\". As if we don't know.
f**k off.
-
I've already answered it elsewhere a few weeks ago, Frosticles. Do a search and I'm sure you'll come across it sooner or later.
P.S: Regarding the defensive problem. Would a defensive coach help? The injury crisis that keeps getting blamed for bad results doesn't take away from the fact that nearly every goal Doncaster have conceded this season has been blamed on \"poor defending\".
No, you skirt around the question without actually answering it.
And who the f**k Frosticles?

I would not assume any more that Rigo is a Rovers fan, he is not interested in Rovers any more than Huddersfield, barcelona or any other team, doing the disinterested sports journalist stuff I suppose he will have to if he is to get on in that world.

I don't know whether it was a mistake, because I don't know what the alternatives were to getting Billy in.
Whether the squad is good enough is up for debate. Yes, we did seem comfortable when we were up there in November, but back then we still had a fair number of what you'd call our \"first team\" available. When you take out 7 or 8 of those first team, the squad isn't good enough, clearly, as we're seeing at the moment.

I've said it before. I've got no problem with you, Rigo, but if you come on a Rovers forum and appear not to care much about a club that you used to support so passionately not long ago, then you're invariably going to wind people up when they still put all their energies into supporting the club.
-
With the injury situation, it's difficult to avoid looking for reasons, and the one others have already pointed to is that our physio presided over a similar injury situation when he was at Wednesday.
Whatever it is, it's hard to believe it's nothing more than bad luck.
-

Yeah, but if you took 7 or 8 players out of most sides, they might be able to muster a shot, or a corner.

lets be honest with ourselves here, to sign billy or not to sign billy in the first place is a complete non-argument anyway, as the directors put the money in for the purchase of him outside of the transfer budget, so it stands to reason that if we hadn't bought him, the money would NOT have been available for the strengthening of the squad.
our wage budget has gone up by a third without making the squad stronger, so as SOD said in his recent interview, the alternative is to sell our best players and essentially start again....how would everybody here reacted if that would have happened? the phrases \"selling club\" and \"no ambition\" spring to mind. the fact is the club seem to be in a lose/lose situation, either they sell our best players and get criticised for the reasons above, or they don't, and they get criticised for having no depth in the squad.
my own opinion is that with the funds we have available, we've done the right thing with regards to the squad. the sheer amount of injuries we have is nothing short of freakish, and if we'd gone down the \"bigger squad/lower quality\" route, we probably wouldn't still be in the championship anyway, we'd just be able to name a full bench.
-
Millwall have equalised against 'Boro.

Couldnt care less whether they win lose or draw.

Look at it this way, instead of 7 points behind us, 2 wins and a draw to draw level with us, they are 8 points behind, 2 wins and 2 draws, thats an extra game out of the way for them!
-
3-0
-
At the risk of getting shot down. I would suggest SOD has signed far more bad players than good.

Quite agree with you - it appears that some think we can have our cake and eat it - we haven't the financial clout to do that, and we are already surpassing expectations. The only problem we have had is that we have been extremely unlucky with regard to injuries - a situation that would have badly impacted on any team.

We were debating earlier whether this was embarrassing or not...the stats certainly make it that way today, even if the result doesn't.
The good thing is the bottom sides still completely suck. It looks like we're gonna get away with still being 7-8 points clear of the drop after today. And this run can't go on forever can it?

Scunny 0-0 Derby FT.
Probably a decent scoreline for us.
-
It's finished. No shots, no corners and 34% possession. Nice.
-
Well at least it is a better result than Tuesday - but not looking forward to next Tuesday against Norwich away - could do with calling up some of the youth team players. At least then we may have an attacking option on the bench instead of 1 injured player (Copps) 3 central defenders and a goal keeper.

Injuries aside, that is f**king disgusting. I bet Crawley manage at least one effort against Man Utd.
-
Well we`re still 8 points clear of the drop, we could do with Scunny and the Blades drawing on Tuesday, Derby look just as bad as us at the moment, tuesday`s going to be tough for us, if we can scramble a draw on tuesday I`ll be happy, the odd point here and there will do us at the moment, surely our injury crisis can`t get any worse!

And we don't?

At the moment we do, but we have an 8 point cushion

Don't think I'd put money on that Filo. We seem to lose one or more players every game we play, and none of them are quick returns.
What the chuff has happened to the likes of Muzzy, Woods and Shelton?
-
Have we actually got a physio? I am beginning to doubt it.

Which ever division we're in this time next year, hopefully the club will learn a valuable lesson from this season!
yeah for f**ks sake get some players in on loan, 4 players on the bench is simply pub team standard
-
Of all the things you can moan about right now, 'get some players in on loan' is not one of them. Or did you miss us signing two players on loan for the exact reason of adding to the paper thin squad in the last two days?

You do realise we can only include 5 loan players in the match day squad?
