Title: Car tax
Post by: MrFrost on March 02, 2011, 11:01:10 am
Does anyone know why the post office will not let you pay for your car tax with a credit card, yet you can on the DVLA website?

I don't know for sure but I'd hazard a guess it's because the PO don't like paying 3% of the charge to the credit card company. The PO is a bit broke at the moment.......

I use my credit card (for cashback purposes) at the Post Office all the time...

Credit card? Or is it a debit card? Makes a big difference. Even Tesco's won't give you cashback on a credit card. If yours is a credit card, then God knows the answer to Mr Frost's question.

Credit card - and I mean cashback that the credit card company give me (1% of all spend) rather than taking cash out. Must either be car tax specific or post office specific as to why MrF couldn't use his!

The DVLA let you tax online using the credit card, the post office don't for some reason. I've taxed the car anyway, but just thought it was strange that they wouldn't accept it.
