Title: Donny v Coventry
Post by: Sandy Lane on March 08, 2011, 03:31:42 am
A happy history of draws and wins against Coventry, so I'll go for a 3 -2 win to keep the faith!!  Hope to see the new on-loan keeper as well.

I'll go 2-0 Rovers and us taking the penultimate stride to securing Championship safety.

Billy (2)

I think you will get your wish and have the loanee. I think SOD will now look to protect Woods. It's a shame as he had a very good game v Leeds

Team

...............Alnwick..............

Hird......Martis (if match fit)....Friend.......Mills

Copps.....Stock.....Keegan..........Oster

...................Hayts.................

..................William.................

I do have a sneaky suspicion he may play Wilson though.

Need freshening up and SOD says this is what will happen in morning paper

Stock needs a rest!

Alnwick

Hird    Martis    Friend    Mills

      Stock     Gillett

Copps     Oster       Moussa

          Sharp

I'd usually say Hayter but I can't see how Moussa can be dropped after his recent performances, along with Sharp he's been our best player of late.

3-0 Sharp (2) Moussa.

SOD on OS:

\"We will look at the Leeds game and see who is fit in the sense of who can recharge their batteries. I think one or two people were running on empty at times. In this division, if you are doing that then on top of it you make poor decisions. This league is unrelenting and before you know it, it will screw you up and spit you out. I think the biggest decision will be team selection for this one I think.\"

I'd be more than happy with a tight display, a point and Palace and Scunny getting beat, to be honest.

With players coming back and the fixture backlog cleared, if we can weather the storm for the next three games (three points from Coventry/Forest/QPR) and not get sucked too far into the relegation fight during that period, surely we should be okay going into the last 7 matches with a stronger squad?  JOC (a month) and Chambers/Locky (rest of season) are the only players with remaining longer-term injuries at this point.  For next year though, in my book, we must get a like-for-like Mills or Shackell replacement, and preferably one for each.

That said, I've had my optimist pills so I'll go for 2-0 to Rovers tonight.

Missing tonight's game due to the fact I'm still recovering from a heavy cold.

Sorry chaps- don't have a good feeling about this one. Rovers 1 Coventry 2.  :(

We are not struggling in this part of the table, we ARE better than Coventry. 2 - 0 to the Rovers!

Line up:

Woods, Martis, Thomas, Souza, Friend, Stock, Wilson, Coppinger, Moussa, Hayter, Sharp.

Subs: Alnwick, Hird, Gillett, Burge, Kilgallon, Shiels, Mason.

Back four looks like it is designed to deal with Coventry's aerial threat, although the chap who said that Mills and Keegan were injured looks to be right. No Oster, although maybe just in need of a break.

Drop Sam and put Souza in? I don't care how much arial or other soap powder threatens us, Souza is never going to be the answer in defence. (We will still win though!)

Central defence is shocking, Coventry can walk through us. I haven't heard the word Souza mentioned yet in the commentary. Is he playing?

This sounds like the usual defence of late.. its not helping that when the midfield arnt on song, we are really exposed.

Mc Sheffrey is turning Martis inside out, but then he is a centre half, what do we expect? The whole defence does not have the turning or speed to cope with a player like that. Let's see Martis swap with george, he might stand a chance.

At the moment - i think we are very fortunate there are worse teams than us at the moment! Preston are gone, Sheff Utd all but gone Scunny hanging on to the rest.  Im thankful that these injuries didnt come in the last couple of years or we would have been in serious trouble!

As you say it's only through the poor results achieved consistently by the bottom 3 that we are not in a much worse position.

Just watched the highlights on player and can't believe the ref didn't give either of those penaltys! I knew he was bloody useless on the night but not that blind! The funny thing is he will continue to ref in this league without anyone saying anything about it because it was \"only\" Rovers against coventry.
