Title: Fleet foxes
Post by: Viking Don on April 02, 2011, 01:01:29 am
Just a gentle reminder that these are the best band around, new album out, touring in June, tickets still available for Manchester Apollo - you won't regret it. Best band I've seen in recent years in relatively small venues.

Frank Turner is a lyrical genius, if you havent heard his music, have a listen on my space - Love, Ire and Song is a tremendous album - I have seen him 3 times and will also be at the Arc in Stockton to see him in May.

You'll have to make yourself known to me Rob.

As for the Fleet Foxes, they are also excellent - saw them last year with a very polished performance.

Certainly will, mate.  Always happy to have a beer with a fellow Rover - plus Turner making the background noises!  Superb.

Frank is over in America later this month, Ruth, and if you can get to one of the gigs I'd urge you to do so.  See HERE (http://frank-turner.com/blog/upcoming-gigs/) for upcoming dates.

Thanks very much for the info and link Rob.  Sadly the ones near me look sold out, but I'll keep watching in case new shows are added.

Wow, I thought this thread would disappear without a trace, but I see at least two mentions of the FF's!

Now I've just listened to FT and am truly impressed, however, FF's kinda remind me of an American West Coast/Country mix (like the Beach boys mixed with Johnny Cash) and FT kinda reminds me of an English thing (Billy Brag).

FF's new album is called Helplessness Blues, and is truly swoontastic and not too difficult to like.

FT is most definitely an English sound.  Even on songs like \"Nashville, Tennessee\" it is unmistakable.

I just like the punk sensibilities wrapped up in a radio-friendly (and festival friendly) wrapper.  And anyway, anyone who can write a song called \"Thatcher F**ked the kids\" gets my vote (sadly he doesnt play it live any more)

It's on PirateBay already - but I'll be buying it when it comes out. Probably. Although I've already forked out £100 for Manchester Apollo.
