Title: Haye v kitschko
Post by: mushRTID on June 29, 2011, 07:06:03 pm
Anyone else as excited as me??

Really looking forward to it.

Always liked watching Haye fight, he's a character and I hope he wins. That said, he has been acting like a bit of a tosser in the build up whereas Klitchsko has conducted himself in a manner that's difficult not to warm to. Seems a genuinely intelligent and respectful guy.

I hope Haye wins, but I don't think he needs to say some of the things that he does.

Anyway, very tough to call the fight itself. Whoever lands clean first?

If Haye's in tip top condition and unsettles Klitschko then he can be a real thorn in his side, if he lets WK dictate behind that big jab it will be a fruitless evening.

There's 5 of us going out for the fight and i've been like a coiled spring all week at the thought of it. Can't wait to hit the Reeperbahn for the pre-fight Saturday afternoon with another 10k or so Brits. Got the makings of a great and memorable weekend, a Haye win is just what the sport needs to inject a bit of credible excitement back into it.

I'm going for Haye between 4 and 8, beyond that and i can see him running out of steam if he uses the tactics expected and just being picked off.

It's rare for Klitschko to win by points, 49 of his 55 fights are KO, the same as David Haye has 23 out of 25.

I think this one may have points written all over it, however Klitschko is an expeirenced guy, and Haye is a powerhouse.I would like Haye to win, but I think Klitschko will get the better and send Haye back to reality...

Most of Klitschko's fights have been against hand-picked bums too, hence the reason that HBO have hardly screened one of his fights in the States in the last few years.

The Klitschko brothers have been lucky to be around at a time when there have been no natural skillful heavyweights that have been capable of knocking them out of their robotic stride. I would love Haye to be the man to do it on Saturday night, however much of a cock he's been in the media in the run up to the fight.

Anyone know what time the fight is on?
Is it a middle of the night American audience thing?

As articulate and intelligent as Klitschko is, I just find him totally lacking in charisma

Haye needs to step it up a bit, can't afford to let Klitschko build up a lead

Well he's going to need a knockout to win this i'm afraid. Klitschko has out boxed him from the first bell.

Very disappointing so far

Thanks for the links, fellas.  The ref has been poor. Haye has been manhandled all fight.

Edit. Having said that Haye just didnt throw enough punches.

That's as maybe Rob, but he's got to be good enough to avoid those tactics...and he hasn't been. Spent far too much time each round looking for the perfect opening instead of working like Klitschko. To ben honest he'll have been lucky to win 2 rounds all fight

Hmm so evidently Haye broke a toe in training and was unable to push off his right foot to land his big right hands.

Excuses coming out then.......

I'm afraid Haye \"talked the talk\" but hardly \"walked the walk\" did he. Made himself look a bit of an idiot really with all of his pre-fight predictions. If he did break his toe 3 weeks ago then he had plenty of time to get the fight postponed. That would hardly be \"letting the fans down\" like he claims.

Complete let down, there was only ever going to be one winner, but for a change us English let over excitement and ignorance get in the way of reality. Doesn't this happen in all sporting events? Hats off to Klitschko he is the ultimate professional, and even thanked the English fans for going to Germany.

I think people are been harsh on Haye, the big Klit fought brilliantly.

Also, those saying Hayes toe was an excuse have obviously never broken a toe!!!

Maybe he shouldnt have brought it up after the event, thats a different story but there is no doubt a broken toe limited what he could do.

Don't doubt the injury had some effect on Haye's physical and mental state, but watching the fight I'm not sure that even a 100% Haye would have been much different on this occasion.

He could never really plant his feet as each time he threw he was (understandably) moving away at the same time to avoid Klitschko's incessant jab. The size difference was just too much and he couldn't get close. It could be bridged occasionally against Valuev who had very limited ability and no speed, WK is much better than many gave him credit for. He's formulaic but it's a winning strategy and you can see why, he never let Haye dictate at all.

Controversially, I'd like to see a rematch even though Haye did little on the night to warrant one. Being fair to him he's totally inexperienced at the weight but he's a great fighter with some good qualities. It would be interesting to see how he learned from the experience of the other night and if he could come back with a different game plan.

Agree with a lot of that Jon. Klitschko was a class act Saturday night even through English beer goggles in a rain soaked Hamburg (what a shithole that place is BTW).

I do think that Haye with a different strategy and being 100% fit could yet present a decent fight for him which not many others have managed in recent years, however i'm not sure that too many of the masses that went to Hamburg would be bothering next time as it was a very expensive disappointment of a weekend.
