I agree. Hope he has the same effect and doesn't blow up in the end like at his other clubs.

I'm sure there will be something in his contract giving us first refusal. It would be crazy to do anything else.

It almost mirrors the way we signed Oster, before he came here Oster had played most of his career as a winger, he came on trial having lost his way and had a bit of a reputation, no club seemed to want to take him, but SOD gave him an initial 6 month contract to prove himself, Oster grabbed it and never looked back. The same comments can now be made about Barnes, I think if SOD can turn Barnes into an all round midfielder like he did Oster, I think Oster may well have some strong competition for his place in the team!

If (as mooted ) he has signed for 6 months then he will be \"Under Contract\" in january anyway. Aug to Sept(1) to oct(2) to nov(3) to dec(4) to Jan(5) to Feb(6) is 6 months.

But he will become a free agent outside the transfer window unless we sort out a longer term deal, meaning he could join any club for nothing.

Delighted we have signed him, hope we see him for longer than 6 months.

What a signing! Can't believe he is still only 22, 23 tomorrow I believe. When Sean fits him into our style we will have some player.

Am i right in saying there is a deadline for free transfers? Not the same as transfers from club to club, I think its 2/3 weeks after the Jan transfer window, we'll be fine with him mind cos we would just extend his contract.

Perkins - it's the same date as the end of the loan window.
