Rovers in front of their encouraging home crowd start the game much better, controlling most of the possession and hardly giving West Ham a sniff. The Hammers counter and a whistling Nolan effort from the edge of the area just to the left of woods smashes the away team in front. Shaken by the goal the Rovers struggle to get their game back to their best and West Ham apply as much pressure as possible, the Rovers hang on for the rest of the half from the United onslaught and go in at half time a goal down. Second half and around 60 minutes on the clock and following a West Ham corner a flukey header crumbles over the line. Rovers begin finally getting back into the game and around 10 minutes to go a John Oster effort cannons off the crossbar for Barnes to haul over the line from about 12 yards. The closing stages commence and Rovers apply as much pressure as possible, 3 minutes into added time and Woods joins the attack for a corner. The ball is swung in and Woods is fouled, the referee points to the spot and woods is holding his bleeding head in his hands. With no subs left George Freind puts on the goalkeeping shirt as Barnes fancies himself at a penalty to equalise; his spot kick ends up with the Rovers fans.

Rovers 2-1 West Hame United
Attendance: 13004
Woods injured.

MOTM: John Oster.
Sponsors MOTM: Donny Dog.

Match preview for this game now up on Viva Rovers (http://vivarovers.wordpress.com/2011/08/12/hammer-time-west-ham-united-preview/)

Also on the site the views of a nice West Ham fan called Matt (http://vivarovers.wordpress.com/2011/08/11/tother-side-ut-fence-i-dont-know-jack/)

I'm going to go for a 2-2 draw. I have no idea why. George Friend header too.

2-1 Rovers. Brown, Copps

11,757.

Big Bully Nolan booked by little Hitler Mathieson, then subbed to save him getting sent off.

Final whistle: Donny Dog overcome with emotion gets her cans out !

If only they had to cope with the broken showers and splintered benches in the changing rooms at OBV. The predictable result is obvious, but lady luck owes us and today I call in that debt. So:

2 sendings off for them, 3 if you include Big Sam
No injuries for us - just ain't gonna happen again this season.
3-1 Brown (undeserved pen), Oster (attempted clearance off his bum) and an OG.

He switched the equipment on half an hour before the match and gave a reasonable preview of the match. We are finding it difficult but posession is good and we seem to be pressing them back a bit now. One nil down in five minutes is reason enough to be a bit negative, I would rather that than all rosy at the Keepmoat stuff.

BBC Sport says Crawley have 80% to Macclesfields 20% with one shot on and 12 off for Crawley. Which makes more sense.

As Sean always says it is all about the performance. That was a good performance, other teams will wilt and we will start to get players back over the next few weeks. Last season with this many out we looked poor and had to play long ball, thay are playing football and look threatening. Good luck will bring us a win against Forest. DROC!

Definately more positives than negatives.  If anyone had us to get anything out of those first two games before the season started they were definately on the happyy juice and, let face it, in the end, we could have had a point out of both of them!

Good stuff Rovers.  TIMBERRRRRRRRR!!!!:rtid:

Agree more positves than negatives - we competed with 10 players out injured and one out on loan, and we were far better than last year.

One unfortunate downside - we are currently on 14 league matches without a win - the 5th worst in our history - and if we don't beat the florists there will only be two worse sequences in our history - the worst being 20 winless league matches in the self-destruction that was the 1997-8 season.

great 2nd half performance today and limited WH to a handful of chances overall, well worth a draw. Dont know which game the tool of a Donny fan was watching who was just on radio sheff saying we were rubbish??

Agree more positves than negatives - we competed with 10 players out injured and one out on loan, and we were far better than last year.

One unfortunate downside - we are currently on 14 league matches without a win - the 5th worst in our history - and if we don't beat the florists there will only be two worse sequences in our history - the worst being 20 winless league matches in the self-destruction that was the 1997-8 season.
