Post by: CusworthRovers on August 23, 2011, 05:16:14 pm
Crikey charlie folks, morale must be low. 90 mins before KO and no match thread started.

......Sulli......

JOC...Shelts..George...Spurr

Bennett...Bax..Gilly...Barnes

....Hayts...Brown........

2-1 Donny

Cussy, they're probably all thinking how the forum will do the usual matchtime crash because there'll be more on here tonight than going the game.

I'll be there........as Jacko once said.

I think we can take these. 2 days rest for them. Wounded animal is us. Touching on the Woods thread, it's a shame he's not playing as I think tonights the night to show some real spunk from the lads......think i'll take mi golfing brolly

Hope you're right Cussy, it depends on who plays. Get the leaders back and we have a chance, save them for Saturday and we have sacrificed the game for the greater good. Either way we win.

Woods, Dumbuya, Friend, Naylor, Hird, Spurr, Gillett, Oster, Barnes, Bennett, Hayter,

5 man defence at home? Deary me.

Post by: The Mighty Brian Rowe on August 23, 2011, 06:34:32 pm
According to Dee Dah, it's 3-4-3. Muzzy and Spurr playing in midfield. I guess we'll see.

It could get quite congested in there when Barnes, Bennett and Hayter drop in as well

can change easy wide men push on down wings or hird plays front of back four pushing oster forward
Title: Re: Donny v Leeds
Post by: Barmby Rover on August 23, 2011, 06:37:11 pm
Dumbaya, Friend, Naylor, Spurr as a back 4. Hird just in front of the back 4 allowing the full backs to push forward and act as wingers. This allows Oster to operate further forward which makes the midfield more potent, and we have Hayter up front who can score. What is the problem?
Title: Re: Donny v Leeds
Post by: cdrover on August 23, 2011, 06:37:32 pm
Spurr and Dumbuya will probably be used more as wing backs. Hopefully pushing for a more attacking  3-5-2??? Maybe. Whatever they decide lets just have a goal at least!
Title: Re: Donny v Leeds
Post by: DonnyBazR0ver on August 23, 2011, 06:37:35 pm
No Brown involved. Although it's good to see Hayter back it's a tough ask form him to play 90 with no forward back up on the bench.

What a suprise!

Tbh I hardly care if we win or lose this one..its the Cup and it can serve as little more than a distraction from our main objective of getting points on the board.
Title: Re: Donny v Leeds
Post by: Barmby Rover on August 23, 2011, 07:41:10 pm
Get the ball into the middle of the box with pace and low, then let Hayter do the poaching job, Rovers could get this finished off in the second half and look forward to playing a BIG club, bring on Liverpool or Man City!
Title: Re: Donny v Leeds
Post by: roverstillidie91 on August 23, 2011, 07:43:47 pm
Its all well saying it doesn't matter if we don't beat leeds.. not only could this game if we win it do wonders for the players belief, also a potentially money spinning tie at Old Trafford or one of the big premiership grounds too boost our coffers basically

Whatever happens in second half we've shown what a good team we have and should boost confidence. What I'm wanting to see now is that willingness to take it to them for a full 90.

Tough with the bench we have compared to theirs but it's the mental toughness that counts.

Forgot to mention, but worth noting, a good tactical approach from SOD tonight. Whether forced or by choice he's given us an attacking chance with the wing backs being prominent.

He had a strategy on Saturday, but I suspect two 18 year old players who had only been at the club for less than a week didn't manage to do what was expected, and the leadership was not there for them. Hence.....
