You can predict it already can't you.

Why do I bother with a season ticket then?
Why doesn't JR give me a refund on my season ticket?
Why do I have to queue up at the ticket office?
Why can't we have cash on turnstiles?
What was Sam Oji doing on the pitch against Arsenal?

there was, and it was me :) Added the offer to the list this afternoon :) I'm also keeping one of all the yorkshire and surrounding area clubs head to heads if anybody is interested in that?

so far, based on the pricing of the first 5 games, tickets can be had at £27 x 3 games, £15 x 1 game and £19.50 for 2 tickets x 1 game, so assuming you had a mate to go halves for the palace game, you'd be looking at £105.75 up to present.

\"Bloody club\" What's the point of buying a season ticket!!?  etc etc.

Come on, you know you want to....

I noticed \"The diamond\" wasn't too impressed with th empty seats last night - he was moaning about it to someone near my seat last night. Kind of ironic, seeing as he's kind of in charge of whipping up public interest in coming to the spectacle that is a Rovers home game.....

As I watched him it occured to me that I've miss-named him as \"the diamond\", he's more like \"the drizzle\". It is in fact possible to be greyer and less charismatic than wet newspaper.

Funny that, if true. Didn't Diamond Dave say last year that he'd rather see the ground half full of people who had paid £28 to get in, than full of people who had paid £15 or similar? What a tool.

He did indeed say that, or something close enough, I was there.  His logic is fair enough if you limit the scope of your calculations simply to the here and now, but every bit as important as maximising this week's income is building a fan base for the future, and Diamond Dave's approach seems entirely to disregard that.

Which based on the ST in the South stand as an example works out like this....

All prices obtained at the cheapest possible.

Matchday South: £105.75
Season Ticket Cat C: £44.35
Season Ticket Cat B: £52.17
Season Ticket Cat A: £60

For further comparison:
Season Ticket Cat B (Expensive): £57.39
Season Ticket Cat A (Expensive): £65.22

Case closed your honour.  2 conclusions there.

1. A season ticket no matter what the cost of it this year is much cheaper than a match by match purchase.

2. Matchday pricing for those who don't want a season ticket is too high.

Further messages - multi game tickets offer a further big discount on matchday prices.

This also hasn't taken into account £3 off the Tranmere ticket and the 10% club shop discount.

I'm confused about your calculations BFYP, are you trying to say that the season ticket prices are what those same tickets would have cost relatively? If so I'm even more confused.

A cat C season ticket, ie, a season ticket purchased for the south stand before the 25th of March would have been £340, working out at £14.78 per game, or £73.90 for the 5 matches. Where did you pull £44.35 from?

Basically, if a season ticket was bought at category A pricing, at the most expensive time (meaning now) for £500, that equates to £21.74 per match or £108.70 for the 5. Marginally over the running total so far, but obviously that doesn't take into account added fuel costs and/or charges for using a card for each game etc. Don't get me wrong, you are right that a season ticket is the most financially efficient option, I'm just baffled by your numbers.

Just as our own John Buckley commented before the game on Tuesday, the fluctuation in prices gets right up peoples noses.

A simple flat pricing structure was the way forward, is the way forward. It's consistent and you are less likely to get the peaks and troughs in attendances. Moreover, it provides a clear comparison to help you work out the savings on a season ticket. Thus it should be apparrant that it is a no brainer to purchase a season ticket.

Rovers have gone the same way as the utility companies, who the f*ck can work out what you are saving?
Title: Re: £15 tickets for Bristol game

BFYP your calculations are misleading as they are not based on equal amount of games.

Matchday South: £105.75 = 5 games
Season Ticket Cat C: £44.35 = 3 games
Season Ticket Cat B: £52.17 = 3 games
Season Ticket Cat A: £60  = 3 games

Regarding the Bristol game , i wonder what the 700 or so people who have already purchased a ticket at the full price will have to say about the offer.

I can't see them being very happy unless there given a refund.

its about time the club brought in another category

Weather Cat

If its sunny on a matchday they charge the full price
If its drizzling(that stuff that soaks you) you get a 35.5% discount
If its just cloudy you get 2.8% discount
If its on Fish Friday everyone who attends gets a free fish finger

I am a Season Ticket holder. My gripe is not the reduction, but that they waited so long to announce it. The game's in a little over 48 hours! Surely this should have been done as soon as the Leeds game was drawn. They knew then that we'd be playing 5 home games in 2 and a half weeks. If people had known this earlier the crowd against Leeds may have been better as it takes the cost of 2 games in a week down to £35 from £47!

Whilst this is a moan, it's really just frustration wishing we'd think things through a little better!

Not misleading just an error given that I assumed someone else had worked out the match cost of the home league games.

So, based on my calculations the cheapest possible you'd get all 3 is £64 paying per match pluse the added cost of buying the Sun those days so make it £66.

£15 already ! That's great news. This is my 1st season for many years without a season ticket. I've missed the 1st 2 home games as I've been on my  hols. That still leaves me £325 from the £340 my ticket would of cost me before the march deadline for the remaining 20 games. It's starting to look like I'm on to a winner.
Title: Re: £15 tickets for Bristol game
Post by: DonnyBazR0ver on August 25, 2011, 04:23:41 pm
I e-mailed the club shortly after the Cat 1 price was announced, and posted on here at a the same time, pointing out that there will be overwhelming pressure to reduce prices following predicted disappointing attendances v West Ham & Forest. However I did think they would hold out a bit longer to the next game.

Even now, they have not come officially published what Cat 2 & 3 prices are and they seem to be making it up as they go along. With a bit of careful foresight, we could go through the entire home fixtures and categorise each match appropriately, without undercutting the season ticket holder. This would at least make some form of commitment to pay on the day fans and, to ST and Flexi-Ticket holders

As said above, just over 48 hrs notice to push the reduced prices and, by all accounts not publishing it in the Free Press is not good enough.

If Alan Sugar was overseeing this lot, there can only be one conclusion.

Not really, if you'd paid the £340 and missed 2 games you're \"per match\" fee would be £16.19. Good luck trying to get 20 games for £325 paying per match.

Sweet baby jesus and the orphans. Is it £15 or £27?

In the FP (out today folks) it's £27. Yet on here unknown people are saying £15.

Anyone got Brian Potters phone number, he could work wonders round here! I've a feeling that young Kenny is already working for the marketing department!

Not that the pricing bothers me as I've been on a fixed price since the stadium opened. Though the absence of tickets after new year in this years book leads me to shudder at the thought that my ticket price will go up from £90 a month (including the summer months)!! God only knows what ludicrous increase the club have in store for us premier club members!!

So spare a thought for us when you're moaning about a couple of quid increase here and there!

Superspy i reckon the £325 will do the remaining games no problem. I usually miss  3 or 4 games over the season due to work commitments and with the leeds game being shown on sky I shall not bother with that one. You never no I might get a couple of away tickets out of it.
Title: Re: £15 tickets for Bristol game
Post by: Superspy on August 25, 2011, 05:35:46 pm
well if you're going to miss another 3 games, if they continue on the trend they are going you're looking at 27 quid x 17 = £459, now obviously not all the games will be Cat 1, but to be honest your personal situation is a completely moot point because season ticket pricing isn't setup to account for people missing 5 and 6 games a season, traditionally the benefit is 3.
Title: Re: £15 tickets for Bristol game
Post by: DonnyBazR0ver on August 25, 2011, 05:36:48 pm
Although, as you suggest, they may not offer £15 seats in South Stand as that could impact on the away fans being charged £27.

There could be ways round it though. They could be classed as competition winners by e-mailing the club with the correct answer to the question. Or, shoving the away fans on North East corner and selling £15 home tickets in the South East most corner, then you can say it's a different view !! Ha

The free game was against Palace.
The family ticket was a Free Press promotion, just as the Sun offer, 2 for £19.50 v Bristol City or 2 for £9.50 v Palace.

Its not a bad offer that donnybazrover, but I'm gonna sit it out this seen I think and pick and choose my games. I certainly won't pay £27 to watch a game its just to much. when I think of all that overtime I've turned down due to having a season ticket maybe it will work out for the better. If not I'll renew next season
Title: Re: £15 tickets for Bristol game
Post by: DonnyBazR0ver on August 25, 2011, 07:20:35 pm
That's the thing with it you can pick and choose your games. You just decide when to trade in one of your vouchers.

I cannot see a set of circumstances arising again where JR will put on a free game.

If you take advantage of the £15 for this sat plus a further 15 games that works out at £315 plus £15 = £330/16 £20.65 per game.

This is better than a Cat A ST bought at £500 (£21.74 per game) or to a Cat A ST bought at £480 (£20.86) or nearly a Cat A bought at £460 (£20)

Without doing the sums, I doubt very much that by taking advantage of all the ticket offers whilst attending EVERY game, the total spent would ever be less than the same seat as a season ticket.  Sure, the offers alone may work out cheaper for one game, or for a set of games, but not for all 23.

I can't go to every game this time, so haven't got a season ticket, so I'll make the most of the offers, and be grateful to the club for encouraging my attendance.

However, I agree the £27 tickets are too much, in general.

Well, the KM Website has been stuck on 6181 most of the week so your guess is as good as mine how well the promotion is doing. Anyone heard anything on the grapevine?

I hope the weather brightens up a bit, plus with the offer and the freebies to school kids and family lets hope we get somewhere near 9000.

Just had a call from a friend of mine who's a Sheff Wed fan lives in Worksop but is visiting friends in Donny this morning with his 2 sons. Been to Rovers before as he knows first hand about the football we play.

He asked me how much for Rovers today. The £15 offer now gone, I explained it was £27, for his 13 yr old son £15 and his 8 yr old £5, total £47 !

Guess where he's NOT going.

How can we attract first timers or casuals with these prices? And yes, I have e-mailed the club with this valuable feedback.

Dodgy Dave hasn't got a clue. That \"stadium half full at full price\" lark shows what he really feels about the fans. We're not supporters to him, we're consumers (well, we are anyway, but fans first, consumers second).
