Title: Rovers vs The Posh
Post by: Sheepskin Stu on September 30, 2011, 12:47:01 pm
Great interview on the OS with our new man-about-town Deano.

\"We will be going there for three points. That's always been my philosophy for every game.\"

\"One thing we have to make sure of is when we don't have possession we have to win the ball back.\"

\"But, if we don't win then we have to make sure we don't lose.\"

With insight like that we'll be fine. ;)

Might as well start the ball rolling with this.

I think we will get a point tomorrow, although I would like all three.
Just keeping those points coming though is a start and I’d settle for that at the moment

Score 1-1 (Sharp)

...............Sulli.................

JOC......Martis....Friend....Chimbonda

.........Stock......Gillette.........

Copps.........Oster.........Lalkovich

.............Sharp...............

Bench: Woods, Hird, Bennett, Hayter, Parkin

I think Parkin will start and that Chimbonda will come in for JOC, I would also drop Copps if Mason is back

I think it's already been said that Chimbonda won't be involved until the Leeds match. He's not played since April.

He's a step above our Kev, but pretty much in the same mould.

(preferring the Rovers v Posh to the more orderly Peterborough v Doncaster title  )

Slowly!  4-3-3 wasn't working so DS changed to 4-4-2 after 5 minutes, Copps dropped back into midfield and Sharp & Parkin both upfront.  They are on top at the minute, just headed over the bar

Well if it aint motivation, then Saunders is equally shite at knowing how the opposition are going to approach a game and is basically guessing for the tactics in the first half.

Three games, three shite first half performances aint a coincidence.

Saunders needs to wise up fast and start preparing for matches properly...this isnt the bloody conference...he cant wing it anymore with a handful of positive soundbites.

That depends if the manager is going to wise up and research the opposition adequately and therefore prepare his own team accordingly (that way we arent outplayed totally for the first 45 mins as per the case for the last 3 games).

Then again, Saunders always was a lazy little git who believed his own hype. Im sure after 2 games and 4 points the sychophants around him have been massaging his ego and convinced him he is already the bees knees. In that respect a defeat today against poor opposition wouldnt be such a bad thing long term.
Title: Re: Rovers vs The Posh
Post by: Barmby Rover on October 01, 2011, 02:49:19 pm
MoM so far Neil Sullivan, without him we would be four down. We seem to have little response to fast fluid football through the midfield. It keeps breaking through the defence leaving them with free shots on goal.

we maybe given that Posh are currently 11 points ahead in the league and have a far better goal difference then they have got better players. Or maybe the red tinted specs are firmly stuck on

But you are not the manager and was not offered to the board. Let's see what happens in the second half.  The manager must be wondering what type of players he has inherited, getting outplayed against a promoted side does not bod well. But it's all about the result and we may get one second half.

I'm not saying they haven't got better players, but if we have the attitude that \"everyone is better than us\" we may as well pack in. No rose tinted spectacles, just a point about how we have to try and compete with whoever we're up against.

Martis just made a last ditch tackle, apparently the \"most important contribution of the game\".

Please lads, lets have no \"we'd never have got these points under SOD\" comments tonight.  The fact is we dont know whether we would or wouldnt.  End of.

I will always look back on the SOD years with great fondness, but we have now moved on.

7 points from 3 games is a great start for Deano, well done to him and the lads. 20th. position and more importantly not propping the league up. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Impossible to say what SO'D would have done with a fit Martis, Stock & Sharp unfortunately, but a fantastic instant impact. Feels good to be 20th tonight.

Let's get Lalkovic on for Parkin and have at em

You clearly weren't at the game, the man was immense (in all respects), ran his b*llocks off.

Shouldn't have started: unfit, at fault for Posh goal, he'll be back.

Good skills boys, love to read this thread. Just as mush torture as being there................and yes agreed Beast got my mom. 110% effort and deserved a goal, but equally Friendo, Shelts and Naylor had a good 90 mins. Under this regime we desperatley need to sign Beast. As per, Stocky, Gilly and Copps got going in the 2nd half once things changed.

All good! I think Deano will need another couple of games under his belt til he really knows what he's working with, but things starting to fall into place. I agree about the Beast, I think everyone on our coach voted him Man of Match. Very hardworking. Shame its taking us 45 minutes before we wake up! Lol.

Did anyone else notice how much organising of the defence Deano did in the second half yesterday when we were 2-1 up, he'd got them into 2 solid lines of 4 and was getting them to move left and right as the Posh moved the ball about, not rocket science perhaps, but he's playing his part during the game.

As others have said, if he can get a better understanding of the opposition to begin with so that we don't get mullered in the first half, then I think we can look forward to better performances, and hopefully a continuation of good results.
