Great stuff, something about real football!

Rovers to win 1 - 2. It could well be the day we escape the bottom three!

Unreal. I'm beginning to get a little angry with these performances. Watford.........????!!! One of the crappest teams in the league!! :headbang: :headbang:

We have the worst keeper in this and league one, and no midfield. The sooner the new signings start the better.

Whether under SOD or Saunders, the regularity we concede in the last 2 or 3 mins before the whistle is more than alarming.
Title: Re: Watford v Donny
Post by: MrFrost on December 31, 2011, 01:54:11 pm
Just what is the answer? The Mckay strategy obviously isn't working. We've got a League 2 standard keeper between the sticks,
Championship football for us just isn't meant to be i'm afraid.

Everything from the way the club is run, attendances and performances proves that we are League One at best.

I hope to be proved wrong.

Sadly they are my thoughts, we went well over half an hour before we had an attempt on goal, it`s just not good enough, the midfield is and has been shit for a long time now!
Title: Re: Watford v Donny
Post by: steve@dcfd on December 31, 2011, 01:56:21 pm
Sordell picked the ball up on the half way line strode through midfield and shot and scored.  22 games left at least 11 wins required can not see this happen. No clean sheets either in 36 away games.
Title: Re: Watford v Donny
Post by: benaldo on December 31, 2011, 01:56:58 pm
Actually, thinking about it. Could this lot be a reason -

1) Sam Hird isn't very good.
2) Woods is even worse.
3) Gillett is as bad as Woods.
4) Sharp isn't interested, in case of injury? (and before I'm torn to pieces by lions, it's just a question)

Could this all mean that Rovers are going down? Is this the start of the \"Going down\" thread?
Title: Re: Watford v Donny

Today is a must win game.
To go over half an hour before our first attempt seems to make me think we weren't going for it at all.
Get ready for League One, playing in front of 5000 crowds with a closed South Stand every week!

To put a slightly positive spin on this, it seems to me that there have been a lot of games under Saunders finish 2-1 with the team who score the first goal losing.

Here's hoping!!

It`s getting more of a pain to be arsed to go and watch this shit we`ve been served up in 2011!

For me, the defence is and has taken the flack for our results, people say thats the problem, but both managers have failed to address the real problem, midfield, thats where a game is won and lost, I defy Man Utd to keep clean sheets when the midfield allows the opposition to run at the defence at will!

We must have the worst midfield in the Championship. Lets just hope Plessis and Woods can make a difference when both are available.

Post by: benaldo on December 31, 2011, 02:08:26 pm
Not sure about Goulon, but for me Gillett is shit, and Coppinger is average or crap. Barnes is average or poor. Stock is average or poor...the rest are poor.

What moron thinks that bringing in twenty strikers helps matters? Get plessis playing asap, get another central midfielder and get rid of gillett (it's like having ten men), replace coppinger and get a proper goalkeeper.

Saunders is defensively naive, but the Board should have known that before appointing him, stuck with him Im afraid.

Sick of us struggling week after week in this division anyway....won't be the worse thing in the world if we do go down in my opinion.

Correct.

Lets couple that with the fact we will likely lose the guy who gave us the goal today in a couple of weeks time and I despair....I really do.

Wrong appointment...at the wrong time...and a system doomed to failure that would simply inspire opposition teams to up their game against us.

Sod it....season ticket or not....Ive got better things to do on Monday, my last day off work, like spending time with the kids, than watching us labour against a genuinely talented Barnsley side.

As for Saunders, fourth rate?, I'll maintain he cant believe his luck to be managing in this division.

Jesus but we've picked some babbies up along the way.

This is a time for gritting your teeth and getting behind the team, not blubbing like bairns who dudn't get their X Box from Santa.

We've just lost two away matches to the two form sides in the division. That is NOT the end of the world. I suspect that 8 wins, 10 defeats and 4 draws will be enough to keep up, the way the sides around us are shaping up. If we finally get a fit keeper who is remotely competent at this level, there is no reason whatsoever why we cannot do this.
Title: Re: Watford v Donny

BST - you don't get it do you. There is no fight, no passion, and we have a manager who hasn't the first clue about tactics, defending or controlling a game from midfield.

This is the time for asking serious questions about the strategy we have employed, the manager which who was appointed and prepare for life in league one.

JR gave us the sales spiel regarding Mckay and everyone bought it. This is no more than an agents experiment, and has nothing to do with securing the Championship status of DRFC.

Funny how people see things from 200 miles away.

At 1-1, that game could've gone either way. Unfortunately a rush of blood from Goulon changed the complexion of the game completely. The momentum was with us after the equaliser but the red card was a massive sucker punch.

I was at the game and I thought the tide was turning before the red card. We changed tactics at the break, playing Gillett further forward and Diouf wide. It worked, and we scored a good goal, but Watford adapted to it. We were also sitting deeper and deeper (juat like in the Birmingham game) before Goulon was sent off.

Although you can't really disagree with the second yellow, there were worse challenges on both sides that went unpunished. The referee was appallingly inconsistent- for example, he allowed Watford's No.32 to commit half a dozen fouls without even threatening him with a card. On the other hand, he allowed Diouf and Beye to show far too much dissent.

Our real problem was that without Stock we had no midfield to speak of. If Goulon is the best available midfielder that McKay has on his books then we need to start looking elsewhere, even if it means loosening the purse strings.
