Title: will billy be rested on saturday
Post by: adge on January 03, 2012, 10:17:12 pm
i know he won't want to be
but if he plays he will be cuptied.
and that will potentially bring his sale value down

i hope he plays

Doubt any of his likely suitors are worrying too much about the FA Cup to be honest.

Only reason not to play him is getting the big lad injured.

Crikey, another one \"in the know\"...... Listen redrover10, there isn't one person on here who isn't \"in the know\". We've all thought it at some point, difference is, most of us realised quite quickly that we know about as much as Robert Mugabe does regarding Rovers transfers.

AS for the match on Saturday, I don't think Billy will play. And even if he isn't going, it's a good reason to give him a rest. I'd give Hayter a go with someone bizarre...like Baxendale.

If you can't say anything because the club 'won't let you', then why say anything in the first place? :headbang:

Too many attention seekers around here.

Hang on a mo here.

I have no connection with the club, have no \"mates\" of Billys on twitter, dont have an \"in\" at the training ground, dont wash DS's car
but, purely by using a crystal ball fancy / reckon / suspect / fancy / have decent grounds to suspect that Billy
\"could be gone by Friday\"

No shit

I think Saunders said on the radio that Bamogo has a 2 game ban hanging over him.

Just noticed someone else posted this earlier, sorry.

Id rest him anyway, it'll do him good and revitalise him for our next league game ( i dont think he'll leave until a bit further on in the tranfer window). Maybe play Hayter alongside one of the youth team lads?

Saturday's team will tell us a fair bit about what's going on inside the club.
Players wanting a move or wanted will not play, unless it's a move abroad. It's a fair bet if billy, stock and others turn out they are likely to still be with us on February 1st.

Or it could just mean they are being rested after a busy Christmas spell and the manager thinks it's exactly these kinds of games (against lower league teams) which fringe players should be playing to get some experience and for him to assess them in a competative environment?

Beat me to it, I can see the fallout already from the kneejerkers around here if/when Sharp, Stock, etc aren't playing. Screw common sense, it's obvious it means they are all leaving.

And some are actively looking for \"signs\" which aren't there. Don't forget that some people have an agenda on here, whether it be to constantly crap on another poster, have a go at the management, or just stir the pot.

I always thought that your first round of a cup means that if you're playing inferior opposition (with the greatest respect to Notts County) you field a side which alleviates pressure on your best players/rests your best players/encourages fringe players/gives opportunities to younger players? Maybe I'm wrong....again.

You play a weakened side against what is preserved  as  inferior opposition and you come a cropper like MU did against CP. We  are not good enough to  do that if we want to keep in the cup.

There is a glaringly obvious fact you've missed tho, we ain't Man Utd. We have no chance of winning the FA Cup and any extra games besides league games become a distraction that could involve injuries to important players.

If this were a league game then it would be very suspect if certain players were missing as we need the points, as it isn't I wouldn't read anything into it.

IF we were comfortably mid table then it'd be a different story and the chance of a cup run would be fun.....but we aren't and our priorities must be on the league.

I have not missed the point.  I would not play any of the players who won on Monday. Then accepte consequences, but saying its only Notts County is doing them an injustice our team at the moment will not find this game easy.

As shit as Gary Woods is between the sticks i've seen nothing in his kicking to suggest he's worth a try on the left side of midfield!?!
