Relegation is starting to look more and more likely and that will mean an end to \"the experiment\" and our easy access to new players. Will Dean walk if we go down and do we have the squad (without the imports) for a L1 campaign?
I hope JR has made plans for L1 next season, we wont have the squad to bounce back up and I suspect we might end up in a relegation battle from L1 next season. Personally I'd be sounding out Dave Penny for a return to steady the ship.
-
As much as we owe him and he'll always be welcome here, it's a backward step. He struggled to turn us into a promotion challenging L1 team last time and we were if far better health then than we will be if we go down. He's also struggled at Oldham and Brizzle in L1.
-
i will have to go with megson.
-
at the moment as long as it aint saunders it is an improvement. but with the players we have got it dont matter cuz they just dont give a fcuk. if we dont sell nearly every player at the club before next season it will be double relegation imho
-
Martin Allen anyone? I wouldn't fancy him in the Championship but he could be just the job for League One.
-
Got to get this clown out first!
-
I dont think DAVE would return, after all the catalyst for his departure is still at the club.
Any how DRFC have a manager, so its not urgent .
-
Who is this Penny fella anyway? i recall we used to have a Dave Penney a few years ago.
-
If you're intent on 'penning' such a post, at least spell his fcuking name right.

I have great respect for your opinions TRB - but not I am afraid this one. Yes Martin Allen got Cheltenham out of League 1 - downwards. But not before his 'racisit incident' and 'nightclub incident'. You need a bit more knowledge than being able to shout at players the further up the leagues you go, as DP also found out.
-
county looked pretty solid and decent when they played us looked like they all knew there roles and how allen wanted them to play. i know you cant judge it on one game but he would get my vote over saunders just one of many mind
-
Come back Sean, all is forgiven.
-
Would the Dingle Mick MaCarthy be any good for us?

Yeah he'd be good, we have no chance of getting him though.

lee Clarke done great job at huddersfield.

He spent quite alot of money in the time he was there and still didn't get them promotion. Ok so they went on that terrific unbeaten run but that really counts for nothing if you still fail to get promotion.
One of the most overrated managers to ever have a job in recent times imo.
-
He spent what he brought in, at least he did latterly. Prior to this season he was fairly prudent.
I suppose he did much the same as SOD.
-
I'd go for McCarthy in an ideal world. Loads of experience and says it exactly how it is. If it happened i would just pretend he is irish rather than a dingle
-
McCarthy wages would be a big stumbling bock, plus i doubt he'd agree to manage a team in League 1.
I would love to be proven wrong though, i think he's great.
-
Well nobody else has mentioned him, so why not, Keegan!
Ok, maybe not.

I will love it, LOVE IT... If he doesn't get the job.

Well he has said one day he would like to manage Rovers.
He'd certainly put bums on seats and he might be the man to make the shop window work. I'm pretty confident he'd get us promoted back as well.

Depends who was signing the players. KK said pre the Newcastle return that he hadn't watched a football match in 3 years then amazingly got the hump when Newcastle insisted on someone else handling the transfers! Certainly bums on seats though as well as positive media coverage.
