Just been scouring through this article

makes very interesting reading

leeds utd owed 7 million in tax only paid back £154,000 back

Also Darlington owed 400,000... Only ended up paying £3.64!!

The sooner they change the rules the better regards to the HMRC getting first choice over money owed

No, they should change the rule so that \"Football creditors\" don't get preference. See how attitudes change if they do that!

Exactly - do away with that rule and clubs won't be so eager to sell at overinflated prices when they don't have the guarantee that the buying club won't welsh on them. Same with the agents. First step to sanity in the game.

Plus, once everybody has a level playing field HMRC will be co-operative with clubs in genuine trouble. That's all HMRC is asking - a level playing field. If a club genuinely has to offer so many pence in the popund, it should be across ALL their debts, football debts included.

Having said that, it's the St Johns I feel sorry for by being continually shafted by clubs in administration. I think they ought to make clubs pay in advance for their services before the season starts. If a club doesn't have a receipt for St John coverage for the whole of the forthcoming season, they don't get their league badge. Simple.
