Title: Leicester v Rovers
Post by: Snods Shinpad 2 on April 06, 2012, 04:07:35 pm
I'm going for an unexpected three points.

Hopes to be raised briefly before the inevitable flop.

Tis the Rovers way.

0-1 (Bennett '14)

4-1 Leicester with Simon Gillett scoring our goal.

Leicester will get THREE penalties awarded to them aswell, Ikeme will save one.

Tall order today. I've seen Leicester's starting line-up, and their attack looks frighteningly strong...

Schmeichel, Peltier, Bamba, Morgan, Konchesky, Marshall, Drinkwater, Wellens, Dyer, Beckford, Nugent.

And for us, Robert dropped for Coppinger!! Wasn't expecting that, thought Robert was our best player last Friday...

Ikeme, Chimbonda, Beye, Lockwood, Ilunga, Gillett, Oster, Barnes, Coppinger, Piquionne, Diouf.

Subs: Friend, Stock, Brown, Robert, Bennett.

Coventry behind already, great start. We can be effectively relegated on Monday if it all goes against us today and then, so let's get a win today and give ourselves a fighting chance for the last few games.

Not looking good. Leicester all over us. The defence is just not good enough, Chimbonda, Ilunga and Beye all DS men, wonder who will get the blame?

Robert should have started IMO. Him and coppinger together would work well I think

Thought Brown might get a start today.

Them being all over us has nothing to do with the defence..

Habib Beye easily beaten to the header.

And then makes a mess of it at the other end.

Alright Sean mate, how's life in the midlands treating you? ;-)

On a serious note, this comment sums up our season really.

And with Millwall already in front Coventry take the lead against Peterborough from the spot. Perfect all around then.

Much the better team, same old really failing to take chances, can`t fault that first half effort

Fully agree with Filo, don't deserve to be 1-0 down.

Think there is at least one goal in this for us, Leicester look dangerous when they get forward though!

An Ikeme cock-up makes it 2-0.

2-0.

Ikeme is a bloody joke - pure and simple, where do we keep dragging these dodgy keepers from?

He's prone to a few mistakes (my count 4 so far) but he more than makes up for them. Lwts be honest if woods was in goal it would be 4 by now

Our foward line arent much better though...there's a couple of chances today Id have fancied myself to put away, including the one a few secs ago for Chris Brown.

\"Peltier getting some joy on thet left side, not surprising, that's all I am going to say.\" O Connor left out since Ilunga came back.

Might put some money on Gallagher to score next here! HE can hit them and our defence will give him plenty of time to do so!

O Connor hasn't played left back for a long long long time and maybe only once or twice ever

Adios Championship.  How many will have release clauses in their contracts?  Diouff for one, I would expect.  When the likely becomes the inevitable, surely it has to be time to give the nucleus of next year's squad a few run-outs.

Ilunga is abysmal, he may as well be stood stationary with a sign reading \"Goal this was: Free passage\"...what we continue to see in half of these 'superstars' is beyond me, (god forbid there is any form of clause saying they have to play).

Depending on whats left. You can hardly be suprised if the majority of those in which the Club have shown absolutely no faith are looking for a different Club, any Club, right now.

But do we have any idea what that nucleus even is? Who is going to stay? Who do we even want to stay?

Jimmy playing anywhere in this defence would be better than Ilunga, Beye or Chimbonda. Get rid of these left over losers.

The fact that some of these so called superstars are laughing and joking with the Leicester City players is all the more disgraceful.

Time for Saunders to go - along with Chimbonda, Beye, Diouf, Piquonne etc. I would rather see those that will likely be still with us next season play and the kids if necessary!

The last time I saw a Rovers team play was the outing against Barnsley, with an onloan goalie, and look what happened.

I think he deserves to be given a full season, including pre-season.  He was hardly dealt a decent hand when he came in, and he will have learnt from the experiences of this year.

Looking at SOD's final spell, we were going down anyway, as SOD himself said (\"we need to prepare for League 1 next season\"), so JR had to try something, including the McKay experiment, and unfortunately it hasn't paid off, but as a club we're still on a better footing than possibly any other relegation season than the one when we ended up in the Midland League.

As for who will stay next year: I think Diouf, Chimbonda et al will be off.  Of the rest, a few will/should be culled, a couple might want a change, but realistically, how many are still good enough to be poached by Championship clubs?

I'm not being funny but it doesn't look as though Saunders has learnt from many of these experiences as the season has gone on. We see exactly the same ineptitude from all corners game after game.
