Just seen him in Sheffield but did not get a chance to talk to him.
He could have been a top player if not for injuries.

Agreed, Quality player and a bargin from BPA! Wasnt there talk of Everton/Sunderland looking at him?

Was a good player. Don't think he could of been a top player though.

Marples was a terrific player for us, was with us right through three different divisions. Is he still at Alfreton? They're doing well in the Conference right now.

We signed him from Stocksbridge by the way, not Bradford Park Avenue.

Good player, bags of pace, played really well in Penneys system when fit.

Asked me for directions in Leeds few years back seemed genuinely shocked i recognized him!

Very nice down to earth guy who did a very decent job for us!

I loved Marps, shame about his injury problems as I think we could have got a couple more seasons out of him.


Edit; And come to think of it, these are the sort of players I hope DRFC start to recruit again in future. Honest, hungry, un-polished diamonds.
