The previous PM was excoriated for every tiny slip. a spelling mistake in a letter. Being accused of nodding off at an Armed Services memorial service when he was actually bowing his head in prayer. Saying that he had "Saved the World" in parliament when he meant "Saved the Banks."
Ed Miliband has been held up in the press as an object of ridicule for similar silly slips (like mis-spelling "Blackbusters" when he was writing about Bob Holness's death).
It's pathetic and childish. But folk can't chortle at the slips of one side then get all po-faced about the slips of their own preferred politicians.
Put it another way. What do you think the headlines in today's papers would have been saying if it was either Brown or Miliband who had pissed off from a pub and left their bairn behind. You reckon they'd have been saying, "It happens. No problem."? Or would they have been giving it them with both f**king barrels saying what an utter, incompetent joke they were?

They wouldn't need to leave their children in a pub to be viewed as utter, incompetent jokes. Their record in government is all we need to form that conclusion.

It was actually Ed Balls that sussed that one out. He did all the research into the issue and Gordon took his advice. So credit where credit's due. However an amoeba could have worked out that joining the Euro would be a massive mistake.
Also getting one thing right doesn't make up for all the 100's of things he got wrong. He will go down in history as the Prime Minister that finally managed to bankrupt the country and ruin the future for the current generation of school leavers and graduates. He should be hung drawn and quartered for his incompetency.

I agree with MrFrost. These things happen. Just be thankful that the child was reunited with her parents as I trust that the reason everyone's foaming at the mouth is the safety of the child, right?

If you can be so lacking in attention as to forget that your kid was with you when you left the house and when you sat down to eat in the pub, what is to stop you f**king up on any and every other issue?
It's called " attention to detail." something that has been conspicuously lacking from Cameron's Government.

I know a good friend of mine was in a similar situation and it broke her heart. You couldn't wish for a better mum though. People make mistakes. Apart from you clearly.

My missus nearly did it in town. She had paid for her goods at Boots or something and walked off without the pushchair. She realised her mistake almost immediately.
On a different kind of sketch, I drew out £250 from the cash machine, I took out my card and forgot my money. Thing was, the Kitson behind me never said a bean and took off with me money. I didn't realise until i'd got home and looked in my wallet to see that there was f**k all in there.
Shit happens. :blush:

I'm not claiming to be a unique paragon of virtue here. I assume that everyone else in the country has the same attitude on the issue of looking after their kids. Or at least I did until the tsunami of "oh, it happens - we all just totally forget that we had little Jemima with us" blather washed over us this week.
As I say: just imagine what the reaction would have been if Gordon Brown had done the same thing...

Neither of the Camerons forgot she was there, they both presumed their daughter had gone with the other parent. That isn't forgetting she was there.
The reaction of the public would have probably been the same, and that is my point. And for those calling on social services being involved is just pathetic really. Social services wouldn't intervene when my son was attacked by a dog whilst in the care of my ex partners grand parents, and to this day I still haven't had an answer as to how it happened.

Unfortunately, the people of Doncaster keep voting Labour despite having the worst council in the country. If you're not a Labour voter in this town there's no point in voting. The Labour party could put an axe murderer up for election and he would still get voted in. It's time you all copped yourselves on and stopped voting Labour just because your parents did. Use your brains for a change and kick the losers out next time.

Strange isn't it that the most deprived parts of the country vote Labour and the most affluent vote Tory. Might be a moral in that story. For those of you that can't work it out - the Labour party is for losers and the Tory party is for winners.

Empirical evidence of 13 years of opposition, failure to gain an overall majority at the last election, poor showing in the local elections and currently being behind in the polls would suggest they’ve been incapable of winning anything for at least 20 years though.
By your own admission this also includes the confidence of anyone in a deprived/less-affluent area that they’re either willing or capable of doing anything for them. Encouraging to see you’re finally coming round to everyone else’s way of thinking Mick.

Like I said I know someone where a similar thing has happened, an she certainly isn't a bad parent. People make mistakes, everyone of us, even where our children are concerned. Get over it.

Increased welfare dependency massively.
Made children stay at school longer then go to university to get a worthless degree.
Allowed unsustainable levels of immigration.
Increased the dole queue.
Bankrupted the country.
I could go on.
All this was to give the illusion of a successful government. Cop yourself on and and realise you've been taken for a mug. While you're at it harden up and start thinking about standing on your own two feet for a change.

So what you’re saying is that people should stand on their own two feet and not need Government to help them, but to facilitate this they need Government to help them by instigating policy to limit migration, make people stay at school longer, decrease welfare dependency and not bankrupt the country.

I can see how it could happen, perhaps it is the downside of being an 'important' person with plenty of hangers on.... Although to be honest if that is the quality of minders he hires then I wouldn't think much to his general security..
Being Prime minister doesn't make him less human than anyone else, it does however mean more danger for his children from the threat of kidnapping, so if only for that reason I would have to say stupid fool..He should have been twice as vigilant than an ordinary pub goer.
However, I have to say, it isn't something I have ever done either..

I've done it loads of times. It's easy done if you've gone to the pub and had an all dayer and nighter. My kids soon learned to harden up and find their own way home.
