Title: 50 shades of grey
Post by: jucyberry on July 08, 2012, 11:28:09 am
On a wet Sunday afternoon if you have nothing to do and fancy a good giggle go on Amazon and read the one star reviews on this pile of shite.. I can honestly say, as an also 48 year old woman I am actually embarassed that a woman my age has written such a load of rot..
If your ladies haven't bought it you can read the first two chapters on the amazon kindle site.. Read it and be amazed that A, it ever got published, and B, that it has made an absolute fortune for both the publishing house and the author.

Oh and before you ask no, I have not, will not and will never buy or read the whole book. for one, I am not a sheep and secondly, that excerpt on amazon was more than enough..

It's definately sweeping the nation. And now aparently going to be made into films.

Most of the Gerts at work are reading it. Mrs JD read it in Marbella a few weeks ago and said it was amazing. Me and my mate said if we were reading a book that graphic that as blokes, we would be labelled as Pervs.

... Fortunately I read Fatherland which was really good and also reduced the risk of any Germans from sitting anywhere near us.

My missus says it's a nice little easy book for the chavs to read their first book since Roger Red Hat.

Isn't that a fatal step backwards for them tho?

I finished The Hobbit last week and i'm two thirds of the way through Fellowship of The Ring. Absolutely brilliant books.

With regards to this Fifty shades of shite, why is it that most women are creaming over this bloke and what he does but they wouldn't dream of doing all this with their own partners. Also, from what my missus says of the lead character, he would normally be branded a pervert and a wrong un so again, why is it all of a sudden cool?

I truly don't know. from what I have read elsewhere it is causing a bit of a stir amongst the bsm community because of it's inaccurate portrayal of the bondage and sub and dom lifestyle. Questions such as if he wasn't a billionaire would he be in the dock for being a sociapathic stalker..it is aparently that badly researched.

i guess it is destined to be one of the worlds great unanswered questions along with..Is there really a loch ness monster?  Does Bigfoot really shit in the woods, and the really big one....

What the heck are there women thinking when they lust over Harry Stiles from one direction???

Lasses lust over me from one direction an all. And all the other ones.

Personally, I think that those who bang on about how shite it is (having never read the whole books) are just as bad as the ones who bang on constantly about how they want a bit of Grey in their lives.

I am fed up of hearing both sides - I couldn't give a toss either way.

Did someone get out of the wrong side of the bed today?

Is there anything but a wrong side?!

I find it tiring that people bang on about it constantly, whether it be wanting someone like 'Mr Grey' or wanting to slag the book off. Jucy appears to know a lot about it & seen quite a bit online (I mean, who goes looking for BSM stuff online anyway?) for someone who hates the concept. Its boody taking over life as we know it....

I haven't read it, I don't have any desire to read it and I would be quite happy if every copy was destroyed so that I can get away from having to read stuff about it. I mean you can't even escape it on a football forum that is mainly visited by men!!

And on that note, I should have known better & never have opened this thread!

"And on that note, I should have known better & never have opened this thread!"

Especially when one is on the blob.

Jenny love, for one thing we are off topic  that in itself gives a clue that the topic will be non football related... for another,I'm old enough to be your mother, not much shocks me. appallingly bad literature aside..
And yup, I do happen to know someone in the bsm lifestyle,  my world maybe small but it isn't narrow..........

Now, I know my threads frustrate the  hell out of you,  just don't open them that way you won't get so irritated.  :)

It is like anything though. It has provoked a reaction and it will be talked about. Someone I know was reading it, so out of interest I read the first chapter. It is utter shite and very poorly written. If you don't want to hear about it, don't read a topic where it is obvious what the subject matter is.

I read the first book and yes it was poorly and simplistically written, but entertaining, which I think is all it tries to be as you can't take it seriously.  But easy reading as I finished the whole book in one day.  I wasn't at all shocked by it, but tbh can't be bothered to read the other two, though I asked the girls at work how it ended! heehee.

What's interesting  though is it may be the first of it's kind as mainstream pornography for housewives.

I think I find the whole thing quite astonishing, not the books mind - they are shite - but how it is captured the nation. What is more intriguing is that is was written by a twilight fan on her online blog based on the characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen from the twilight saga.

Strange that it took someone who didn't want to publish to actually publish it could be (as pointed out) a new type of novel. Personally I thought that erotic fantasy books existed or is this the first that has been nationally accepted.

I am yet to read the books but quickly scanning the first one and reading various chapters at random points it was just impossible to take seriously. I think my opinion about the quality is summed up in this line: "He positioned his erect at the entrance to me sex". Wow, just wow...

The part about the Twilight thing is interesting because my missus didn't know this but she said she thought it was a sexed up rip off of Twilight.
I have noticed that the people who think it is brilliant are the ones who don't read many books.

Well, im on the 3rd book and am bored of the "sex" parts....nothing really new, same old sayings and actions over and over again, but im intrigued as to where its going....and ive started so ill finish. The first book really doesnt get started until about chapter 8 to be fair, so just reading the first couple of chapters gives no real insight into the overall storyline. The way people have been banging on about it, i expected some real hardcore stuff....to be fair, so far, a bit of spanking is about as hardcore as it gets...im sure my granny has been up to more. Its pretty unrealistic.....but then it is fiction.....The reason people are shocked is because bdsm isnt spoke about so openly....and i doubt the author really knows what she is on about....im still reading it though.....i agree it could have been written much better.

I found the way they captivated each other much more interesting than the fact he wants to paddle and nipple clamp her. Surely, he can think more up than that in his "red room of pain"

Is this also the case for Mr. Grey in the books?  :ermm:

I flicked through the third book briefly because a friend was reading it the other day. Found it laughable.

Mr grey is quite an intriguing character to be fair....and he also has the ability to go again, pretty much straight away after being satisfied.......and she, er....arrives at her, uhm,  destination very easily and quickly.........so yeah, its reeeeeeally realistic. Also find it highly hilarious how every female swoons and wants to drop her panties from just a glance from mr grey, and every man wants to make sweeeeeeet love to miss steele .....seriously......as if. Anyway, im up to the, er, plugging part...and even thats predictable

To be honest I've had some movement in the pouch just reading this thread.

I don't find anything intriguing or strange that this Grey fella mi lad can get a lob on again after emptying his plums or make women orgasm quickly...............or is that just me ?

The lasses at work are going on about how he's now fisting womens bums..............lightweight
