Don't know what to expect tomorrow, but welcome to the new players and best wishes to the ones who have left.  It will be a nice start to the season now the Keepmoat is being run by the club, so is more of a real home for everyone.  Fingers crossed for a good result, and positive thoughts for the season.    :scarf:

3-4,000 Donny fans. Not a lot to say so far, York started brightly, we're beginning to wake up. Even Stevens.

Yes its on Player http://www.player.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/live-matches (http://www.player.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/live-matches)

York fans full of singing, and had a couple of shots on target. Rovers playing like a team trying to get used to each other with no fluidity. York looking better

Lacklustre is about the best I can describe us, both their full backs are shite but we've hardly taken them on. Copps seems to have forgotten how to control the ball, Keegan never been a footballer and as usual a complete tool for a ref.

Just had 1st shot on target from a cotterill and another just go wide. Lack of midfield and creativity seem to be what I'm taking from this So far

No pace very little imagination and I think we've forgot to tell our players it's not a friendly.

Our record in this comp has been terrible for many years now, notts county, acc Stanley, off top of my head and we had decent seasons after those games.

Glad you're back mate :)

I'm taking the positive of us seeming to be fairly solid defensively. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the bottom line requirement from DS today in the first half. Prepare for a second half of midfield mastery!

Jones can def head the ball and had not scored an own goal yet so that's a plus ;-)

To be fair, defence has looked solidish. I think it's going to take time and we are going to have to be patient until we have a team with some sort of identity. We don't know the type of football deano is after yet and I certainly have not been able to tell since he's been in charge.

If he can get a creative midfielder in to replace stock then I do think we have the players to turn games in our favour. Cotteril def has some class when he shows it I will give him that

Cops is waving his arms around a lot as if to ask where his other team mates are at times, jones cannot pass to save his life. Woods just pulled off a good save and syers on for keegan. More to give York fans to cheer than rovers by some way so far this half

5 mins of pressure and a couple of good crosses by rovers. It almost feels like they are lacking a little confidence and a goal would see 2 or 3 more

Me, I'm here and that's how he's playing and looks or has so far. Anyway 1 out of 3 pens that we should have had.

So, first round league cup. Does a draw at full time mean replay, extra time, or straight to pens?

It's a shame to be going to extra time, it's not great for a thin squad.

Having only four on the bench (incl keeper) shows just how low on numbers we are at the moment.

I hope it's a short term problem with Quinn such as a dead leg rather than long term!

Still a poor game, Bennett got through in first half but tripped himself up, Blake on for cotterill in second. The decision making is appalling.
Title: Re: Donny v York City - The Curtain raiser
Post by: godlike1 on August 11, 2012, 05:20:41 pm
Blake on for cotterill. Bennett got through in 1st 15mins but spin off ball beat him. York fans still cheer and sing when nothing for them to sing they still sing. Can't fault that. Just seen a great cross from copps which brown & Bennett stared and admired instead of attacking

Game has been asking for a bit of quality but absolutely none on show. One plus is that Husband as played really well.

Post by: Bristol Red Rover on August 11, 2012, 05:31:59 pm
We've had time to do something in this game, really not sounding positive overall. Defending sounds good and Wakefield sounding like he can cut the mustard at this level and is likely to be a regular on the bench and not one to be loaned out.

Off course I live in hope.
