Guys guys guys (and gals). I'm taking the first of the gang to leave the nest, to go to Uni to read History and hopefully leave with a qualification and hopefully not a 30k debt.
On Wednesday I'm heading for Kingston on Thames, setting off around 7 and a half bells in the morning and then bid her a merry farewell.
I've got a route from route planner which is showing the quickest ie M1, Nth Circular, Chiswick High Rd and loads of posh roads. For all you wanderlusts out there...........
Is this the best route
Will I be snarled up on the M1 or Nth Circular
Shall we park up and allow rush hour to clear somewhere around Herts/Beds
How's the M1 for roadworks these days
Is there a toll for Nth Circular
Finally, any southern exiles out there who can reassure me that all is nice down there. I have to say the area of Kingston on Thames, Richmond, Twickers, Eton, Windsor, Surbiton all sound very much how Americans/Foreigners see England ie very '4 Weddings and a Funeral' type stylee

Can't help you much on the route Cussie, its M4 or M3 for me, North Circular or M25, itsalways a carpark round there anyway.
I mate of Crowle Rovers & myself (also a fellow Rovers fan who goes to the London games) 'did' journalism at Kingston. He speaks very highly of the place and still lives down there somewhere, 20 years later. I did my marshalling stint for the Olympics time trial in Kingston High Street and was really pleasantly suprised by it, its was like being in York, these lovely old Tudor buildings and then modern chains. I did ride a bit of the time trial course, Esher, Thames Ditton, Kingston, and it is a nice area - for London. Hope she enjoys it.

Just take it as a given that your gonna get snarled up in traffic, London is a pain in the arse to drive around, London as a place is ace though I thought I would hate it due to the hustle and bustle but when you get out of the main tourist areas it's really cool

I wouldn't have thought the northcirculars the best way round but I've been back in gods country for near enough 10 years so can't comment.
But I will say I spent a year living in Twickenham (well Whitton just up from the rugger ground) as an 19 year old and I had an absolute whale of a time in Richmond and Twickenham, the posh totty used to love a bit of rough, and there was enough rough totty if you were having a bad night :P oh the days of Cheeke Petes and the Bier Keller downstairs :thumbsup: only going back to about 1977 though

And Windsor is a good night out, especially after the rugby. She should pick up a few chaps there!

Good luck Cussie, you spend ages wanting shut but you miss 'em when they go...
Don't worry though, they come back in the holidays for the free board and lodging!
