Title: Sheffield United
Post by: GazLaz on December 27, 2012, 10:26:17 am
Is it true that we have given them 4,300 tickets? Whoever's idea that was wants sacking. Why give them a massive advantage in such a big game for the sake of a few quid? It's a complete joke.

Surely we'll think we're playing away? All we need to do is let the Blunts play in their stripes and we'll play in white. Job done!

Wont that be a good thing though, if we think we are playing away we will win without a doubt.

Yes, and they sold out some time ago.
It's only the same as what we did with Leeds last season. Rovers fans fair weather or not need to get to the game. First real six pointer of the season!

They haven't sold out I believe, they'd sold 3000 tickets up to christmas.  Pretty much the North but not yet the portion of the East.

There was a Tweet from SYP well over a week ago stating the blunts had sold their full allocation of 4300.

I just don't see what the problem is? It is not as if we are giving up tickets that we would be selling to our own lot. The public of Doncaster have shown time and again that they are not interested so frankly, we are financially much better off selling them to Sheff Utd fans rather than leaving them unsold. Similarly, to think our support could outsing anyone is a total joke even when we have four or five times as much support. This is a sensible and pragmatic decision. Total nobrainer.

Agreed Chris. We need the money full stop end of story. An extra 1000 tickets = about 15 to 20k depending how many are adult/childrens.
And quite frankly, I would sooner see the ground full.
Unfortunately, I am working so won't be there which probably means we'll win and play well

Rob Jones winner is nailed on. Hopefully at their end and he rubs all 4k noses in it by celebrating disrespectfully.

How can we talk about needing money and then moaning about exploiting Sheffield folk when they want to contribute to our coffers? It is the team that will benefit from having a full ground. Bring them in, the more the merrier!

Anyone know how many we have sold so far for the Blunts game?

Anyone who purchased any MKDons Tickets only to see the game called off can transfer their tickets to the blunts game too! So if anyone out there is in that position, swap your tickets and add to our numbers for that game if you can.

Sheff United have sold 3,800 of their 4,200 allocation as of today according to club.

Good on the club for taking initiative. It will be unusual seeing the away end packed out, and tbh will be embarrassing being outshouted and nearly outnumbered by their fans, but well played the club for making the sensible business decision that will only help us come January. No point in cutting off our nose to spite our face here.

Agreed Macho - better to see the place full and our coffers swelling, even if we're outnumbered 2:1

So you yhink we are going to be out numbered 2:1,so with your calculations thats 4200 Blunts,2100 Rovers fans,The place full with 6300 in attendence? What you been drinking over Christmas?

I think it was just hyperbole to make a point, rather than actually thinking we're going to be outnumbered 2:1.

Hahaha!
Obviously not literally 2:1 and no calculations done - was merely saying I don't care tuppence how many away fans are in the KM at the moment - we need as many bums on seats as possible and if that means letting more away fans in than normal because they can shift more than their initial allocation - so be it! Sell em to em!

Thanks KR and DW for reading my post at least! LOL

Why don't we transfer the game to The Lane and we get ticket sale revenue after expenses. Should be 20k fans then.

I've had some banter on here some time ago - and have got my tickets today (with the Mrs) to visit the KMS  next week. Its a sell out for Blades - and I am looking forward to seeing a good game between my team and my second club.
Is that real ale place still open near the ground - used to like that when I came over?
Just hope for a good game - the atmosphere in our end will be great - and no trouble.
Good luck for the rest of the season (after NY day!) :scarf: :scarf:

It has closed Barnie. Although the Belle Vue bar at the stadium is much improved. Not sure how they will go with letting in Blades fans mind. Away supporters not usually a problem in there mind.

Take her to the Cheswold pub round the other side of the lake. Afterwards you can have a walk back debating with whoever will listen exactly how and why you failed to get the 3 points  YET AGAIN ;)

Think it'll be a good match whatever - if we win I'm happy....if Rovers win she's probably happy ( her old man and family are all Rovers fans....so my luck might be in later)....if its a draw the I can live with that I guess.
And I'm chucking money into your pockets to fund your promotion push !

And Ive only just got me neck right after watching Simmos penalty too!
I really hope we don't end up in the p p p p p p p p p p play offs again.......really couldnt have any real hope with them any more.
Can't believe Ive seen Rovers in two finals and they won both - although beating those from up the M1 was a rather sweet day!

Morning all! Well, its here - my trip to my second home to watch the Blades and my second team. Am hoping for 3 points, naturally, but not with any real conviction tbh. All the best to Donny (after today of course) and lets hope its a belter of a game whatever.

It will be a good match Barnie, the difference might be a little midfielder with a point to prove. I certainly hope so! Pity like that "BIG" club Hull you will end up losing the league to little Donny, but who cares if you go up eh?

If you want barnie when we win you can go round blaming Wilson and get rid of him and then you can thank us for that

I'm in the opposite side to you me a rovers fan and the wife, well she's from Sheffield not a fan of either but she prefers the blunts to the fowls, think it has something to do with Sean bean lol

Talk about getting out of jail!!

Thought you should have been 4 up by HT, and if that shot went in straight after HT it could have been embarassing - but guess thats how it goes. Didnt see the Paynter incident - but Deano's appealing it apparently. Rob Jones - a proper beast in defence, and knew the Cotts would cause trouble for us.

We haven't nicked a point like that in ages - but glad we pulled it off today.

God luck for the rest of the season - would love us both to go up automatic!!
