1) Paul Keegan going off
2) Bad luck
3) Referee making poor decisions, and basically disrupting the natural flow of the game.
4) David Syers absent
-
They got to grips with Copps in the second half who ran the show in the first.
-
Copps was a joy to watch in first half. Worth paying ticket price just to see him for those 45 mins. Shame he was shut out in second half.
-
i agree totally , the ref shouldnt have been allowed to continue and the f.a should take a really long hard look at him , keegan shouldnt have gone off, flynn should have replaced harper his game was appaling but i believe keegan took a knock and thats why he was subbed .
to add another to your list though
mcCombe was shocking and should have been subbed aswell, he gave them to much space when on the attack and just didnt look like he could be bothered but to be fair am not sure if he was ill because when he came out after half time he went towards the south stand and threw up .
-
Keegan went off injured. Harper was non exsistant & gave the back 4 no protection at all. It's easy to point the blame at the referee, although he was poor we only have ourselves to blame.
-
The last two games, is poor defending and not putting a lot of chances in the back of the net. In both games we have been below average if not poor in both departments. We must start again to put chances away and improve our defending otherwise this blip will continue.

5) Hume's absence
Defences hate playing people like Iain Hume - we need him up front and we have missed him/are missing him.
-
I also thought we went too attacking at 1-1. Walsall broke clear a couple of times before they scored, we didn't show them enough respect. Flynn took a gamble by throwing people forward and this time it didn't come off. Hard to be too critical though, if Cotts wonder strike goes in then we win the game. If we win on Tuesday night we are favourites to win the league IMO. Plenty to be positive about.

Agreed, we were on the receiving end of players running at us today and need to have that in our locker to be able to edge tight games. I have no doubts Kyle Bennett could tear this league a new one if encouraged/prepared to really get his head down and force defenders back into their own box where they are too scared to make a tackle.

6 Walsall were better than us

6 Walsall were better than us
Agreed, they had a lot more urgency and worked harder than us!

6 Walsall were better than us
Maybe in the last 30 but for long periods I think we were well matched and I'd say Rovers were on top between 35-45 minutes as we really started to turn them round. Had we scored again before half time...

6 Walsall were better than us
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think to say Walsall were 'better' is rubbish. Rovers were clearly the better side until Keegan went off, but they were made to pay for many missed chances.
-
They took their chances in the periods of the game when they were on top, we didn't, but to be fair i thought their keeper was in with a shout for overall MOM
-
I don't think Harper is good enough full stop.
Barring the early slip-up for the goal we dominated the first half but were second best the second.
The ref was plain and simple biased, it needs investigating.
On another day some of the chances we created would have gone in, but on the second half performance we deserved to lose it.
I thought Gary Woods should have been MOTM, not Brown.
Another disappointing day at the office and three more points dropped. I honestly can't see us finishing in the top two, we're not good enough.
-
CoppsisGod yes we did go too attack minded but were the home side and the emphasis is on us is to get the 3 points ,without being disrespectfull to Wallsal we should be beating them at home. Keegan going off left the back four isolated , Harper was a passenger for the whole game & Brown & Paynter are too Similair.

Only if Tuesday is the last game of the season IMO.

I agree. I came out of the game thinking that over the 90 we didn't play that badly at all. I thought we were clearly the better side but we were still asleep 5 minutes into the game and from when Keegan went off we couldn't string 3 passes together.

Totally agree with this. I only listened on player bur sounded like we totally dominated the first half. Remember saying we needed to take a couple of chances or we'd get punished

We did dominate for periods, overall 67%, we just failed to capitalise.

Yep, they were a very young side who grew in confidence and played good football as we went off the boil. We'll play worse and win etc....

Brentford springs to mind.
