After a very quiet gaming period, I got back into it in the last month, thanks to Far Cry 3. Awesome game.
Now, having completed the single player game and virtually done all the side quests I'm after my next challenge.
I have a number of games I've bought and not played, not even taken the cellophane off in some cases, and wondered if anyone had played them through and could recommend them.
The list includes...
Hitman Absolution
Batman Arkham Asylum
Vanquish
Far Cry 2 (Must have had this about 2 years)
Resident Evil 5 (I completed RE4 on the gamecube years ago)
Crysis2
Dead Space 1 and 2
And about 20 others I can't remember.
Or do I go for something new like Tomb raider?
-
Can I challenge you to play Slenderman alone in the dark?
-
Arkham Asylum is very good, but if you have played Arkham City then it will be a disappointment, but then again just play it on hard mode...
-
No, not played Arkham City either.
The last game I got right into was Just Cause 2, which my stats say I played for nearly 300 hours. I played the first 4 levels on Dead Space and liked them, so I might go back and finish that.
I've also got Killzone3. I finished Killzone2 within a couple of days of getting it, so I might have a bash at that.

RedJ, I had to look Slenderman up. Apparently PC and phone only. Some people claim it's the scariest game ever made, a bit like saying candy man 3 times into a mirror. I can't see that myself. Slender man live on android looks interesting though. Proper VR using the phones camera to put slender man in your house.

Arkham Asylum is probably the best of the ones you've listed, quality game even if you're not a massive Batman fan. Dead Space 1 and 2 are pretty decent too. If you've played Far Cry 3 then Far Cry 2 will probably be a bit of a disappointment to you to be honest, as it's not as good in any area.
If you want something new the new Bioshock comes out in a couple of weeks, which looks amazing. That'll probably be my next purchase, first new game I'll have bought in a while actually.

I've gone right off gaming the last few months. In fact, I got Fifa 13 for PS3 for Christmas and it's still brand new in it's wrapper, so it's safe to say I'll never play it. If anyone wants it for £25 let me know.
I mainly just use my PS3 as a bluray player these days, I've got loads of games I never play, will have a look tomorrow and put a list of them if anyone fancies putting them to use!
Back on topic though, of those you've mentioned I'd definitely say Arkham Asylum. I've not got a great attention span and generally only play games for 30 minutes at a time maximum but that had me glued for hours, as did Arkham City. Both awesome games.

I was similar before Xmas as I had not played since Red Dead Redemption and got out of gaming. Thanks to (much appreciated) recommendations on here I got Mrs JD to get me Farcry 3 at Xmas and same as OP, its ignited that gaming spark.
Looking forward to the Rambo game due out shortly, and as sceptical as I am about movie conversions, I can't resist going through the antics of being ol' John J... I just hope they include the recent 4th movie set in Burma.
... Failing that GTA V soon
-
I've not played single player versions of games for ages, but can't wait for GTA V either
-
Never been a GTA fan, and didnt have the patience for Red Dead Redemption.
Thanks for the input chaps. Think I will have a bash at Arkham next, althpough I'm really looking forward to The Last Of Us in the summer. That looks stunning.

Stated Far Cry 2 last night and I think you are right. It's like a far rougher version of far cry 3, with dumb enemy AI, terrible voice acting and sub-minecraft graphics. Did the first 4 or 5 missions, but it's a hollow experience. Time to bang a few games on ebay I think.
My "untouched list" is.....
Brink
Kane & Lynch 2
Killzone3
MGS4
Vanquish
Resi 5
Uncharted 2
Bulletstorm
Bayonetta
Arkham asylum
Dead Space 1 & 2
Bioshock 2 (I liked 1 a lot)
Assassins creed 2 (not played any of them)
Rage
Crysis2
I'm a couple of hours into Homefront from about 6 months ago, so could pick that up again I guess.

Just checked out 'The last of us' Rob it looks awesome mate

Never really rated Far Cry 2 even when it came out, and I borrowed it off a mate so didn't even have to pay for it and I still felt a bit ripped off.
Depends what sort of game you want to get into, anyway. Assassins' Creed 2 is great but it's huge, so if you want something a bit louder and faster Bulletstorm or Bayonetta are safe bets. Games these days are bloody huge. I'm still playing Skyrim, over a year after it came out, not even halfway through the story, with hundreds of quests open... how much free time do they think I have!?

Online I play PES and F1 13, just moved across from 360 so in the process of increasing my collection. But no I don't usually play Fifa...
-
What's F1 13 like? I got the 2010 game, was shite at it so never bothered updating. Seems I missed out on some decent new features too.
-
Well F1 13 doesn't exist, thats my mistake it is F1 2012, seeing as F1 13 kicks off this Sunday.
The difference between F1 2010 and F1 2011 is like the difference between York and New York. 2011 was a really revolutionary game for me, it was so much better and so much closer to the real thing (such as safety car) and it was improved online play too.
2012 isn't much different from 2011, except its even harder to control the car and they have also brought in "illegal overtake" which means if you do an illegal overtake you have 5 seconds to give the place back (rather than just hand you the penalty like previous versions).
If you don't play online I'd go for 2011 as its miles cheaper and there isn't that much difference from 2012 to stump up the extra £10-20...

 I thought as much.
Thanks, I'll give it a look. Sounds interesting.

Started playing Uncharted 3 a couple of days ago. Brilliant game, would highly recommend. Best i've played in a while
-
Elder Scrolls : Skyrim. Highly recommend it. You'd be able to pick it up for 20 quid and spend at least 120 hours on it before you finish the main quest then there's 8 other large quests along with it. A really good time consumer
