Title: Scunny v Donny
Post by: Sandy Lane on March 23, 2013, 12:22:14 pm

Just cleared the snow from the walkway up to the Lucky Pint and guess I'm the first one here.  Right, game on, tv on, and a nice pint and chips!  2-0 Rovers!!   :scarf:

Must admit I'm pretty nervous. I'm doing my bit by staying away, so every chance we can keep up our great away record.

No predications. Just wanna be sharing in the joy that will surely follow if we get those 3 points!

GSS, one of the featured games, saying Scunny are settling down and playing some decent football, but Donny are much the better side. Hope that's not the kiss of death.

Well a choice of 3 commentaries. Radio 5 Live keep breaking off to get updates from every other ground including Rugby, so lucky to get 5 mins continuous commentary.

I'll stick with Player for the moment. Come on you Reds !!

I`ve given up on 5Live, they`re at every other ground barring the one they`re supposed to be covering live!

Post by: rover-n-out on March 23, 2013, 03:35:41 pm
Tony Cottee on GSS says Husband just put a terrific ball into the box, just needed a tap in but no one there. Chris Brown just done the same, again nobody close enough to put it away.
Got to sort this out before they get lucky and grab one against the run of play.

Try radio Sheffield.

The general opinion is Rovers are dominating but can't get the second goal.

The commentator has just said there aren't many times I can say this but I could do better. Referring to a Rovers effort...

How bad are Scunthorpe...

Oh from absolutely nothing...

Dear dear.

Woods didn't move his feet quickly enough and you'd expect better from the keeper, to be fair - Mickey Walker

Title: Re: Scunny v Donny

Mickey Walker continuing to criticise Woods. Not watching the ball properly.

Also Donny their own worst enemies kicking the ball anywhere.

Title: Re: Scunny v Donny
Post by: Thinwhiteduke on March 23, 2013, 03:49:00 pm
I'm sorry but Rob Jones has been pretty dodgy today...a few terrible clearances.

As for their goal, be interesting to see that one on the TV later...can't imagine a Scunny player scoring a thirty harder on pure skill alone (even if they shouldnt have had the free kick in the first place).
Title: Re: Scunny v Donny
Post by: River Don on March 23, 2013, 03:50:17 pm
Mickey Walker again, Rovers should be 3 or 4 nil up.

Criticising Rovers now for slacking off, and unhappy with Woods. He would be "shouting his head off" at him.

Was just gonna say that DBR, Blades/Brentford off, Bournemth/Bury 1-1, Carlisle/Yeovil 1-1, Swindon/County 0-0.

I'd take these results as they are now!
Would imagine there'll be plenty of changes before the end of the games tho!

Well done Rovers and all the supporters. Do the players realise that we don't ALWAYS HAVE TO COUNTER-ATTACK ESPECIALLY AGAINST WEAKER TEAMS.

That said a good 3 points pocketed  :rtid: :rtid: :rtid:

b*llocks! 30 yards out!
not quite 30 yard out and a decent free kick over the wall from by far their best player

Would like to know from fans who were at the match
1.What was Gary Woods like -any fault for either goal ?
2.Was the substitution essential ?
3.Was Billy the correct choice-would Bennett have been more effective for last 10 minutes ?
4.sorry to have to ask our magnificent fans who went ,all i had was Radio 5-live !! But i would
appreciate any comments .Thanks

1. Thought he could've done better with the free kick. It was a decent shot but hardly some unstoppable Ronaldo wonder goal. A decent keeper should at least be getting a glove on it, but it wasn't really a howler, just something he should be doing better with. Put it this way, I'd expect their keeper to have saved it. Didn't have a good enough view of the 2nd one to say so I'll leave it there.

2. Yes, Hume still doesn't look fully fit, was knackered and missed some absolute sitters whereas Brown was looking dangerous all afternoon and had a great game. They were both tired but Paynter gave us more of a direct option as we were under the kosh a bit at that point.

3. See 2.
