That might be an attractive proposition Rob, but it'd be a bloody dangerous option even so. What do you think China would do?
Cheers

Nothing, because they would be next.
I've seen Rambo 4 you know.

Rambo 4 was set in Burma
... Perhaps we should just send Rob Jones into North Korea to sort it out!!

Pah, a mere technicality. I'd drop thousands of DVD's of Rambo 4 over North Korea with a post it stuck to each one saying "This was him warmin up - you lot are next!". The place would be empty in a day.

Looks a potential grim situation. North Korea now saying they are ready to fire nukes and it could happen today or tomorrow.

The second any nuke is detected being launched from North Korea will be the moment that Country signs it`s own death warrant, America would obliterate them, it`s either a high risk gamble to get America around the table regarding UN sanctions, or the man really is a fruit cake that`s played too many video games growing up!

Not sure what China's reaction would be to America obliterating them........

For what it's worth, the wife of an old colleague of mine is a Professor specialising in North Korean politics. Her take is that the North Koreans are entirely sane but realise that they way to exert authority is to make the outside world THINK that they are nut jobs. That way, they will be left alone and can bargain for food aid etc.
Having said that, she said it before the current young un took power and as they've just said on Newsnight, he looks to be a whole lot more reckless than his dad. The rapid increasing of the ante is unprecedented and the closure of the joint industrial zone today is a real worry. Yesterday, the ex-UK ambassador to N Korea was on the radio saying: Forget about the re-starting of the reactor. That's just posturing. Start to worry if they close down the joint industrial zone because they rely on that for foreign earnings. If they close that, it means they are getting desperate.
Or maybe that they want the West to think they are getting desperate, so the West backs down and gives them food aid rather than risk the carnage of a war.
Who was that prize bell end American historian who said that the fall of the Berlin Wall was The End of History because it meant that Western Capitalism had won and everything was going to be plain sailing from here? Seems like we've had plenty of old-fashioned history in the 20-odd years since!

Going on what China have been saying about all sides showing restraint, I reckon in private they`ll be giving the Koreans a bollocking. Don`t forget that Russia will be alarmed at the prospect of nukes being deployed close to their borders

Lovely. A three way nuclear war it is then.
Wonder what Dutch thinks? His opinions would be worth listening to.

Quick question, if nuclear war breaks out tomorrow and we all get annihilated - will the season have officially finished and will we be awarded the Championship? Or do we have to come back afterwards and finish off? Does nuclear fallout help the grass grow does anyone know, the pitch might be in a better shape then?
They don't have the capacity to send a missile to much more than the other side of the country never mind across the Pacific - but its handy to restart talks about relaxing economic sanctions and food aid if people think they do.

Anyroad, it will just be our bloody luck that Kim Jong-Un will start Armageddon at about half past 4 on 27th April, and deny us the bloody title.
I bet he's a chuffing Sheff U fan too.
