Been having difficulty with the forum for three or four weeks now. Initially it connects straight away and I can navigate to a thread without problem, then as soon as I click the 'back' key to return to the threads list it hangs, and the message 'sending request' appears in the status bar. Eventually it times out and it takes five minutes before I can connect again.
Does the same on IE9, Chrome and Opera.
I've cleared the Cache, which made no difference.
I tried logging out and viewing as a guest which I thought had worked because it let me read two threads before bumming me out again.
REALLY getting on my pip now!!!

Operating System?
Any problems with other sites?

No problem with other sites MrCroft, only ever this one.
-
Anyone else getting this?

have had a few "unable to connect" messages today but It was not long after Dros came out with the statement about BF so I presumed it was just pretty busy

When I'm using the Internet server at Hull University I often get "Unable to connect" but when I click refresh it loads up straight away. But that is a public internet service so I never think anything more tbh. When I use my own account and my brothers standard account on different PC's and internet providers (Sky, BT, Talk Talk) and a range of operating systems and Browsers, never get any problems so this is the first I've heard...

Only problems I had was over the weekend, but that was the same for everyone. None since at home or at work.
What OS are you using?

My Log In lapses "by itself"
I can choose from any time period in the drop down even "Forever" and when I next visit VSC Forum it is a 50 / 50 shot whether I am still Logged in
Its a mystery what causes it ... anyone having the same ?

That sounds like the cookie the site places on your machine with the login credentials isnt "sticking". Clear your cookies for this site, then log in again and it might sort itself.

Thanks for your interest guys. At the suggestion of bobjimwilly I installed a new router on Wednesday, the site behaved faultlessly all last night which hasn't happened for weeks and I've read a couple of threads just now without any problems, so touch wood, it might have sorted it.
The only curiosity about this is that it was only and always this site that gave the problem. Not a sniff of trouble with any other sites.
