you beat me to it

They could play it at the Keepmoat..! ;)

We could have had them lasses playing Beach Volleyball with the amount of sand on the pitch

They don't have much 'luck' with stadiums in Rio do they?!
I went to a match at Engenhão in February, was an impressive stadium but they closed it in March indefinitely because of safety concerns over the roof.
The Maracana was looking rather impressive, i'm sure they will iron out the problems.

I watched a programme on South American construction a few weeks ago. The shortcuts they take are unreal when comparing it to major builds in the UK and USA.

If only you'd piped up then - you'd have saved everyone a lot of bother.

I went see Botafogo a decade or so back. They were in a temporary "stadium" where the stands consisted of rickety scaffolding that swayed like buggery as the fans bounced up and down.
Of all the scary experiences in Rio that week (wife getting mugged, Chinese prof at the conference I was at being murdered on the steps of the conference hotel) that was the scariest.

lt's back on. State judge has ruled all safe

The Botafogo fans are mental aren't they? The attendance was relatively low when I went to see them but was by far the most enjoyable crowd I've ever been in, the English fans could learn a lot... It was that much fun I think we barely saw any of the game (which Botafogo won, I think).
Luckily we didn't have any scary experiences whilst we were there, well, aside from thinking I might die when climbing Corcadova on a stinking hangover... such an awesome place, seeing the pictures of the England players walking diwn Copacabana just makes me want to go back!
