Just had a Spurr of the moment decision to take a little break around Suffolk on monday. Anyone been to Ipswich or Suffolk in general? Any advice?

Ipswich is a nice enough Town - but also getting out to Southwold and Aldburgh is to be recommended
Rendlesham Forest is worth a visit as well
Gipping Valley sounds like a bad Saturday night but is worth a trip if you like a good walk

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago when Copps was nailed on for going there saying how nice the area was - check it out, might be of use to you.
Oh Sutton Hoo has to be a definite - the interpretation centre is mostly replicas but the landscape is worth it.
Heck of a long way from Uganda though?

One really good pub in Ipswich is the Dove. Amazing range of beers and if you in at 10.30 doors are shut and you can continue to drink happily until well past midnight. This is my experience on a Friday but might be different mid week.
In terms of other venues recommend Aldburgh and Snape Maltings.

Good God we haven't started these really 'scary' threads again have we ?

I remember a Pub that was full of character - perhaps The Beagle ?
It was in the sticks and I remember it was in a "dead end" and cut off by the A14 ... if still there in its old form that would be a nice place
