what are the chances of us signing hume then? love this guy one season watching him for us and hes up there as one of my fav players behind sharp 100% everytime.
not gunna happen but... imagine sharp & hume... 100% effort for the club a natural goalscorer and a player who never gives the defence a second :O
back to reality :rtid:

Its not impossible. But i would say......The story that Powell might from MU on season long loan .....is not possible.
-
Dickov didn't make it sound too promising the other night
-
hume reported to be on 10k a week at pne. twice what they are are paying for their top earner now. they cannot terminate his contract as it would put pne in financial difficulty. good chance he will go out on season loan again so why not back to rovers. thought he was inspirational last season. reported that pne payed half his wages last season

From what PD said at the fan's event on Wednesday we won't be looking at signing him as he's on a good contract at PNE. I think we can find someone to fill the same role who can maybe score a few more goals anyway.
-
Humey well, thought he gave 110% every game and loved watching him but is he really still championship level ability? dont get me wrong would love to see him here but..
-
agree with the above, yes he was a work horse last season, but i don't think he is championship quality, and that's really what were gonna be looking at really
-
Hume was class for us last season and played a big part but I don't think he's got championship quality now and with us on a tight budget as it is I think we need to be looking elsewhere for a better player at this level.
-
Well if you Doubt Humey is Championship level abillty then we have another 8/9 players who definitely are not too!Hume was IMO one of the top 3 or 4 performers for us last season.

This.

Hume is a great player but abysmally bad at finishing. That's why he is so small because he couldn't even finish his dinner when he was a kid.
-
Loved him last year, great effort and very useful in league one, but no where near championship quality for me. Awful finisher. Know someone who supports barnsley who said he was awful for them in the Champ.
Still very good for league one just because of his work rate though
-
I wouldn't lose any sleep if we didn't sign him.

Same here, brought tempo to what could be a very sedate attack but his goals:games ratio doesn't stack up with what we'd have to pay him to get him on a permanent deal. If PNE would take a 50% wage contribution on a loan deal I'd be happy with that though, contradictory as it may sound.
-
I think he's good enough for the division but wouldn't stand out and I feel he is not an irreplaceable part of our side. You could see his vision, control and anticipation were all a cut above the third tier level this past season though. Easily.
-
His goal:games ratio isnt the whole story, though. He makes things happen, makes defenders edgy and panic stricken.
If we could get him within our wage structure (a lot less than he's on at PNE) I'd have him here in a shot.
-
He's an important player for us,but not important enough to be on ten grand a week, when he plays his enthusiasm rubs off on everybody else, for him to sign for us,would need him to come in line with our wage structure, our income i wouldn't think could justify too many on that type of money, the way we do well is as a team, when the work rate drops that's when we could be in trouble,so if we don't sign him we need a similar type of player who works hard for the team up front, that leads from the front.

Don't get me wrong, so would I, but that's a massive if I would think.
-
He was a good player for us last season, no doubt about it but IMO the key man upfront was Brown and we missed him more when he was injured.
-
I can still hear his squeal of frustration when he was subbed at Crewe, I would have him back

I'm delighted he came off! But I wouldn't be fussed if we didn't sign him, works hard but lacks quality especially at championship level. His finishing is also dire
-
Can't knock his effort, work rate, determination, but sadly you can knock his goalscoring ability. To me he's a better Lewis Guy, runs around and causes problems but just doesn't score enough.
-
John Ryan said to BBC radio sheffield he will get in contact with him when he returns from Canada
-
Yes please, good enough for me.
With Brown/Paynter and Cotterill plus a.n.other new forward I think we'll have plenty of goalscoring options - especially of Copps can contribute 6-8 goals too.
-
Hume is one of them "cwoar look at I'm gettin stuck in" players that never really does owt. Lot of effort, little reward, poor goal ratio. I like his spirit, but lots of blokes can run about a lot an "get stuck in". Sometimes it makes up for a lack of talent... Give me lazy old sharp any day.

Not a chance of Copps getting 6-8 goals.

Very interesting to read everyone's different opinions.
'If Hume is not Championship class we have another 8 or 9 players who aren't'. Interesting. Well, in all probability this statement is true. We probably need to bring in at least half a dozen proven players at this level - IF we can afford it.
For my own part, I thought Hume faded towards the end of the season. I don't know if it was a fitness thing, possibly. Would I lose any sleep if we didn't sign him? No, I think there will be plenty of players looking for clubs in a few weeks time who won't want 10 grand a week - allegedly.
If we get him, fine. If we don't we move on.
-
MushRTID, that's what I can't weigh up about copps, some1 with his undoubted ability should contribute with more goals, especially in L1 last season

If he did he wouldn't be with us.

Why not? Any player capable in scoring a hat-trick against a team that goes on to get promoted from the Championship has the potential to score a few more. Never going to be top scorer I agree, but certainly could contribute a few.
Copps scored 7 league goals in 40 championship appearances with us in 2010/11.
