Title: Louis Tomlinson
Post by: Norfolk N Chance on June 11, 2013, 11:45:37 am
Doncaster’s One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has shown his support for Doncaster Rovers - by snapping up a season ticket for the club’s return to the Championship.

Despite a hectic schedule, the boy-band heart-throb has pledged to attend as many games as possible to see his hometown club in action next term.

The Doncaster born singer even found time to film a promotional message for Rovers season ticket campaign.

Last season Louis took part in a special charity game at the Keepmoat Stadium with his football team, The Three Horseshoes, taking on a Legends team consisting of former Rovers manager Dean Saunders amongst others.

The match was a huge success with 10,000 people in attendance and thousands of pounds raised for Doncaster Rovers official charity Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

A Leeds fan who wears Man United shirts? Heard it all now...

Regardless of who he supports, fair play to the club for trying to exploit the following that he has. Can't see it making a blind bit of difference but its worth a shot!

There was an interview with him not too long back which said he was a regular attender at Elland Road. I'm surprised you didn't see him there.

I barely get the opportunity to watch Rovers nowadays never mind Leeds... Last time I stepped foot inside Elland Road Louis Tomlinson was just a spotty unknown kid!

But yeah, personal retorts. Amusing. Keep them coming.

Great news for the club.

Lots of youngsters are pulled by the glam of the bigger teams. Some of many reasons is that its better for your cred to be wearing the badge of success, and a buzz when you see your stars on the telly and news. Much as Donny have been successful over the past decade, its not comparable to Man U or even (marginally) Leeds.

In the 70's my teams were Donny and Liverpool (sharing those European exploits with John Peel) but as time went on my connection and identification with Donny is what really mattered.

Its the same for many others and the more our club does what its doing, the more people will gravitate towards their home town team. Criticising them is fine as banter, but really we are better off welcoming everyone on board, even if their current main team is Manarsleeds Wednespur.

Ha ha,

Good for him, and us. I'm glad the club and taken advantage by using him in this way as it seems in the past we have avoided celebrity endorsements.

All we need is the occasional 'tip off' that Louis in town to watch a match and our teenage support might give our attendances and occasional boost.

Some people really arent pleased at anything this club do are they..

I hate the music they produce but think this is fantastic way too not only promote the club but the town aswell.

When louis tweets hes coming to a game can assure you know it will be sold out, even though half the attendance may be screaming girls who think david beckham will be playing just cos its a football match ;-)

but money in rovers pocket!

Just seen this. Hate what they do in the music industry but this is football. If even one young lass signs up for a season ticket because of this then it will all be worth it in my view.

no it will be two girls as they will need another girl to go to toilet with them lol . In all seriousness this could definatley put bums on seats at the rovers and that can only be a good thing
