Well, its easily seven and a half inches.
It wasnt always this big. When i first went to the Rovers as a boy, i swear some guys had really big ones, maybe a foot long. I felt so embarrassed about my little tiddler.
But year by year it grew. By the time i reached Donny Grammar in 1970 it measured about 2 inches but by the time i left it was easily five inches and all the girls used to grab hold of it and fondle it. I swear this encouraged me and before i knew it i had one of the longest ones around, i was now the one to be envied. Then in 1981 it stopped growing and i only get it out now on special occasions

Must be combination of good schooling and Rovers

No its my old Doncaster Rovers supporters club badge. You rarely see them now but each year you could buy another date bar. So the longer you were in the club, the longer it got.
Nowadays you rarely see them. And i do not know of any other football club which had them, does anyone else know of another club?
I searched on ebay for 'badge bar' and it seems a lot of Speedway clubs had them but not football.
When did they die out? To me this is another unique part of our culture and history.

Remember those well, although now you mention it they are a thing you never see now

They are still sold in the Supporters Club shop.

Thanks for that. I have enquired in the club shop to no avail. I left donny thirty years ago and didnt watch them for a decade, and really thought these badges and bars no longer existed. Theres every chance mine will now be a foot long before i die!!!!!

Ah Longbridge – a fine memory. I was at DGS from 1972 and lads would wear their Supporters Club bars on their jacket lapels. You'd get hassle from Mr Jones or Butch Fox to take em off but they were worn as a bit of rebellion (how sweet...). Hard to believe in 72 the Vietnam war was still raging and Watergate was kicking off. Weird eh.
