Rovers are interested according to The Star, Barnsley only offered him a 1 year deal. It seems their manager rates the reserve keeper Alnwick and hopes he'll step up this season.
At one point last season Steele was tipped to make an England squad with the likes of the Peterborough and Derby keepers being called up.

I am sure that Lee butler and sulli will be in a better position of any of us to decide that

one of the best keepers outside of he prem, but have seen him lose concentration and make howlers over the last few years. Still would be a big improvement on what we've got

Hudders in the hunt too, apparently. The Barnsley fans at work expect him to go there.

Barnsley are offering short deals to most of the playing staff. Half an eye on the drop and the potential financial meltdown it can create when relegated players are on Championship wages. The word is Steele's agent wants a better deal on the length, 2 poss 3 years. We'd do well to heed the logic.

Keep calm we've signed a top keeper but won't be revealed till his current deal ends like all the other players end of June. source is a member of the staff.

Hoping for Joe Murphy - best goalie outside the premiership (in my opinion obviously!). Just hope we can get him ahead of the others who must surely be interested. If we do then I for one will truly believe we can push on next season! A real statement of intent!

Would be delighted with this guy. He makes the odd gaffe like every keeper but is class the rest of the time. Honestly, if we get him, our fans will realise how low our standards have been for the last few seasons.
