Title: Bongani Khumalo
Post by: Donnybax on July 26, 2013, 12:21:38 pm
From spurs, to play against Bradford for us. He's a centre back

Looks like he's a Spurs player in name alone... Signed up and then loaned out. A lot.

South African captain and scored against France in the WC. Had a season at PAOK (finished second in the Greek Super League) making 22 appearances.

Sounds promising... Wonder if Deano has had a word in his ear...

Amazing, innit? I am speculating here, but we must have been looking at him (may even be interested in him) and yet not one mention of him from those "In The Know"...

Assuming this is the case, it's good to see that PD has been doing his work under the radar, as he has said all along.

Furman

Ah, of course, I was thinking I'd missed some news about Saunders getting a coaching role with Spurs.

He's not very good. He got dropped and lost captaincy from SA around a year ago too.

Good enough to have been selected and made captain before though, and to sign for Spurs?

Could have been a dip in form?

He had a trial with Ipswich this summer because they were thinking about getting him on loan, don't know what he's like as a player apart from him been quick and athletic according to Mick McCarthy.

Yeah, he used to be decent. It's just since his move to Spurs he's ended up going downhill. Maybe if he was to join us he could return to being a decent player but at the moment I'm not holding much hope.

Ipswich opted for Berra instead so sent him back to spurs

He played 22 games for a side that came 2nd in the greek Super league so that is not a bad reference .

Good player, definitley Championship quality, probably mates with Furman. Him & Jonesy would be epic.

I also signed him on FIFA 12 in my DRFC season and he became club captain!

Speaking of FM, Gary Madine's banging them in for me this season (2020/21) and we're currently 13 points clear at the top of the Championship.

Didn't really have to run that far. Mmmmm, not sure but he stuck to his task. Marking James Hanson at times in not the easiest.

Given the choice between him and Mvoto I am delighted Barnsley took Mvoto off us.

Spurs paid £1.75m for him, that's a massive outlay and sure they must have seen something in him, based on today he may be a great signing

Title: Re: Bongani Khumalo

Tottenham were willing to loan him to Ipswich, so I'd guess it could very well be.  I bet PD will want to see him in a couple of training sessions this week before finally deciding though.

IMO he didn't play great today. Every challenge wasn't 100% committed and every time the ball was played away he always had his hands in the air complaining? How can you say he was 'solid' and glad we got rid of m'voto on that display baffles me?

I'm afraid I have to agree with Karl on this one, sat in bradfords home end I watched him closely. Thought he struggled to challange in the game, looked abit unsure of him self. Maybe due to lack of knowing his partners in defence I don't know. To say he was better tha mvoto Is a strong call, not seen much of either players so can't say he is or isn't, but if he was playing for us next season as 1st option along with jones, I wouldn't be full of optimism. Just my opinion though

Showed some real passion, looked really angry with himself when he headed over the bar, and also did his bit to try and gee up the fans.

I'd be happy with him.
