Rovers official website met up with Paul Dickov this morning ahead of tonight’s game against second placed Burnley at Keepmoat Stadium (KO 7.45pm).
“It’s looking good tonight with only a few aches and pains after Saturday but no new injuries,” he said.
“Theo (Robinson) came off with a tight groin but has trained since and Reece (Wabara) was training yesterday and today so may be available. It’s all good with competition for places now which means everyone wants to train hard and try to get in the side.
“Although we lost Reece on Saturday to the injury on his foot, Paul Quinn came in and did a great job. Paul got left out after the first game of the season but has shown great attitude in training to get his place back. It leaves me with a difficult but nice decision to make as it is all across the side.
“We have good players unable to get in yet, but as Paul has shown you will get your chance if you train hard and have the right attitude.
“It will be good if Theo (Robinson) can get on the score sheet again as all strikers need to keep scoring but one thing Theo does is work extremely hard for the team.
“We want players, who if its not going well, work hard for the side - it’s a team effort. As we have seen Browny also works really hard up front and between them they will make goals for other players.
“Week in week out Chris (Brown) does such an important role up front. I have not seen a striker yet as good as him playing that target man role; he’s a guy who can hold the ball up well and has great experience in the game.
“Up front I wanted a set of strikers who can all bring something different to the table like in midfield with Keegan, Wellens and Furman.
“I feel we have that with the lads I now have up front. This allows me to change formations and systems, depending on the side we play against, and know the players will adapt.
“On Saturday we tried the same formation as against Forest but it did not work, so I changed it back and we got the win.
“Burnley are on a great run at the moment which is all credit to Sean (Dyche). He has built a good all round side who are dangerous attacking and hard to break down.
“With a win for us on Saturday, the pressure is a little bit off so we can go out in front of a good crowd and have a go at a team which is sat second in the league.
“Sean has got a hard working group who work together as a unit, which is what I am trying to achieve here. They work well off the ball as well as when they have it but play great football, so I am expecting a good game tonight.
“Up front they have Sam Vokes and Danny Ings hitting the net but it’s the whole team behind them that is making the side tick”

So the side that finished against the Wendies. Shame for Theo, but he might get his chance if they go more for attack later on.

How are tricks CottyRover? Hope all is well.

Going well, Dubai. Haven't been in your part of the world recently. How about you. And to answer your other post - bit quiet on the pitch too!

Pen Burnley 1-0 foul by Rob Jones

Shame about the penalty. Have they been playing well? The bbc stats look pretty even
-
Yeah good performance. Very even game. Nice tidy football defensively very solid. We look bright going forward but no clear cut chances. Wellens pulling all the strings.
Can't complain about the pen. I had a clear view. Jones unlucky but just one of those things.
I think we need to risk more to get a goal in this one

Dare i ask the question that no one else seems to want to ask -is it now time for Rob Jones to be rested -or do you still think he must be in the team, what about young McCollugh is he ready yet ??
I hate asking this question after all big Rob has done for our team ,but i would invite discussion on this subject .

Jones was unlucky. I didn't think the penalty was a foul, and the second was a cross/shot fired in very hard that could have ricocheted anywhere. A Hird-esque OG it wasn't.
Please don't judge Jones' performance on the stats that refer to the penalty and OG, as otherwise he was solid.
