Title: Funny, isn't it....?
Post by: BobG on October 08, 2013, 11:18:27 pm
That Lifelong Supporter disappears off the forum as soon as discussion of the SC bid dies down. One would almost think he has an agenda to defend....

Bob,
Funny you should say that! but don't you think its important to know JR's point of view even though its through another person?

The statement issued last week stated that ALL owners had agreed that the Sequentia deal was finished. That includes JR.

Beg to differ not once did the word ALL come into play:

The Owners of Doncaster Rovers can confirm that there has been interest in the club from various investors.

The Owners consider it their duty as shareholders, on behalf of the club, the fans and the stakeholders to consider any approach regarding investment.  Any decision will be made in the best interests of the club and its fans.

Each proposal in its current format has been explored thoroughly and the owners have come to the conclusion that it is in Doncaster Rovers’ best interest to remain in the hands of the current investors.

The owners said: "We are part way through a project with Doncaster Rovers that we all feel passionate about.  Our aims are to bring the club closer to the local community and to bring economic growth to the area through our activity whilst continually improving our playing performance on the pitch.  We believe that there is so much that we can still help the club to achieve.

"Last season saw Doncaster Rovers promoted to the Championship and saw us forge strong relationships with our fans.

"We want to deliver the best possible Doncaster Rovers for our fans, not just for the next season but for the future."

Although I'm far from convinced that the takeover will happen, I'm also certain that the saga has got more mileage in it. With no match this weekend and a paper to sell, I'm sure the DFP will be giving the pot another stir tomorrow.

Interesting use of words Bob - 'agenda to defend' rather than 'view to put across'. Its almost as if you had an agenda to defend by revisiting a subject that had died down.....

You don't have to be Poroit (or Miss Marple) to know that JR was the owner most in support of the deal. Just because he (and the others) have rejected it this time should obviously not be taken as inferring that he is not looking for further sources of external investment. I would have thought he almost certainly is, just because he is not telling us (or Lifelong Supporter) about them, doesn't mean further deals are not being discussed.

Although it does not say ALL, neither does it say "Majority", so I think we have to assume "all ducks are in line". Personally I don't give a monkeys . Someone ( or 3 ) own the club. Some future date , for sure, someone else will own the club.

OK, maybe it didnt specifically state all, but my understanding from the club is that all the owners agreed to reject the deal. The only person now pushing the deal is KP and the FP.

No I am not referring to you but to Lifelong Supporter. He appeared to give JR's position on the take over and as you know there are two sides to every story. Sorry for the confusion.

I feel secure and safe and confident with the status quo and even more importantly I feel proud of the club and it's ethos.

Perhaps BobG is missing someone to spar with though I'm surprised, with him having lost the argument so many times.
I can only repeat that I'm not giving JR's position, only my own.
Not sure who Silent is speaking to at the club but, after all he has said, can anyone really believe that JR has given up on the deal?
I think the wording 'in its current format' is the key to the statement as others have already mentioned.

Cracking LS. But next time, please at least try not to insult our intelligence quite so much?

I speak to the board, and the message is he is lined up with everyone else.

Surely it's a given though, isn't it? I mean, if a potential buyer came back with a new bid with a different amount of money and different terms, then it would be a different format of bid and the owners would of course look at that

It should be but a few seem to be reading it that its totally dead, but with that bit in the statement it leaves the door ajar and not slammed shut

I agree. But what I'm trying to say is no businesman would leave their door totally shut. Everyone has a price. The article also does't mention if the door has been left open for SC, or the other deal that we know less about.

But........."The other deal" .......The "Consortium" pulled out, due to costs involved. ( The car magnate one), so that leaves one "Consortium" that we all know of,( current format not suiting owners of DRFC ) and the possibility that someone else may come to the table ( so its left open to SC as far as I can see ).

Who knows? There may be another investment plan afoot that we don't know about, and which is being wisely kept under wraps so as to avoid the clusterf**k that the Sequentia rubbish became.

I admit I'm pretty ignorant about finance and such, but can anyone tell me why anyone would want to shove 20 million squids our way if they aren't either stark raving bonkers or super rich Rovers fans?

Answers on a microfilm please.

Just when all of this takeover talk finally died down, and countless forum members breathed a sigh of relief that the tiresome infighting had stopped, we've got Bob G to come along to start another argument.

I wouldn't mind so much if the original post was on the topic of potential takeovers (despite it having been debated to death).

But no, Bob G fires a completely unprovoked attack another forum member to stir up that cauldron once again. And what does he do once he's given it a stir? He sits back and watches the arguing ensue, with no attempt to engage debate.

Mods - you need to take a long deep look at yourselves for allowing it to continue.

Don, the same could be said about many clubs, why would Glasers Buy Man U, why Abramovich Chelsea, Why Liverpool, Why Arsenal, Why Fulham, the list is endless. Even outside  of premiership folk buy clubs, for no apparent "fan reason" None of the owners can or could claim to be "Fans", they bought the clubs, put money in, but god knows why. Maybe most are "Bonkers" as you say.
