Title: Nationality of players in British football
Post by: wilts rover on October 10, 2013, 12:04:13 am
Interesting survey on the BBC website on the nationality of players in British football, namely PL, Championship and SPL. So far this season, 55% of players who have played in the Championship were English, with Scotland, Ireland and Wales at 2,3,4. Which country do you reckon is 5th?

Why is it surprising that it is Jamaica? Former British colony with long history of migration to Britain. Most of whom assimilated into working class culture including football. Inevitably British born nationals will use familial links to seek dual nationality and play for Jamaica. Even rovers have had 5 or 6 Jamaican internationals playing for them.

A certain Theo Robinson is a shining example.
