One of our own on here is ill in hospital which must be a massive strain on himself and his family.
Can we, through the VSC PayPal donations set something up where we can help with transport cost' for hoola's wife.
If we can, I would like to offer £30. I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things but every little will help.
VSC Directors! Can this be done.
-
Seconded.
I would chip a few quid in. All the best to hoola

Makes 3 of us

Jeez fellas now you have broken me down in tears. I've been giving it the hard Yorkshireman bit in here for days.
I know you mean well but please we are financially OK. I merely sought to express my feelings and fears amongst friends. If anyone on here is holding back from sorting yourselves out........then please do it now !
There is a Chordoma charity if anyone feels inclined to help find a cure for this nasty barsteward of a cancer. Trust one of us to get it , typical that's what makes us all so special . must go or they will see me blubbing :(
-
Can I say this with a vsc and personal hat on? I know Steve and I think it would be good to do something. I'm pretty sure we can arrange between us on the forum to raise some money for the charity he has mentioned and also raise some awareness.
People up for that?

As some of you may know (you all should we told you often enough), Ponte Ricky and I (and Bill) did a charity bike ride to Brentford for 'a bit of fun' to coincide with the last away match of last season. We have already begun discussing doing the same again this season, to Leicester.
I have not spoken to Ricky yet but I suggest that we do this season's ride in aid of Hoola's Chordoma Charity. Those of you who wish too can ride, those who don't wish too can support - although as it is only 80 miles and I am giving you plenty of notice....

Good luck Hoola, I am going through something similar over here in the States, I was diagnosed five weeks ago with cancer of the bladder. I have always been a supporter over here of nationalized medicine as I thought over here they are just a money making operation.
However, since I was diagnosed, I have had four visits to my specialist, 2 Cat scans, a cystoscopy and two biopsies prior to starting a chemo and robotic surgery which I am assured will be completed before Christmas.
I sincerely hope you are getting the same kind of treatment and that you are back up and running as soon as possible. They can't keep a good Rovers supporter down for long.
RTID.

My thoughts and best wishes to Hoola and New Yankee .Having gone through this in my family I know how much support from friends can lift the spirits.

Good luck with everything NY...

Thanks everyone else who has recognised the dangers involved when ignoring ongoing symptoms. This is not a crusade but there will be at least one person reading this forum who will be sat on his hands?...get it sorted NOW please.
RTID BTW away shirt draped over the chair in my MacMillan suite tonight ;)

Good luck to both of you. Absolute bas**rd of a disease I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Good luck to both of you. Absolute b*****d of a disease I wouldn't wish on anyone.
True RJ and the pair of us have the absolute extreme barsteward of a barsteward sadly.
-
Thanks for the thoughts RedJ, mine was detected five weeks ago and led to me cancelling my trip to see the Burnley and Leicester games and reconnecting with my daughter after many years apart. As Hoola says it is a barsteward, but I have great faith in my Doc's over here.
Hoola, I replied to your PM but did it twice, I am not going mad, just not used to these replies. Hope all goes well tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you.
And, YES, please get checks everybody, mine started over a year ago but I only got diagnosed 5 weeks ago. There is more hope these days, but better to not have to play on that hope.
-
I was sorry to read that Hoola. I'll do what I can to help you both. I hope things improve for you soon.
-
Thanks Donnydub
Your thoughts need to be with Hoola as he appears to be in a much worse position than me. He has sent me PM's and is undergoing surgery today, ( we are six hours behind ), apparently his op will slow him down.
He may not be fit enough for the Rovers first team, but he is a cert to get a game with the Blades.
-
Sorry i don't know Hoolahoop ,but enjoy reading his threads-Just to wish you all the best ,hope all goes well ,"come on you reds ",get well soon -love to all your family in this trying time .
-
All the best to you too newyankee. :)
-
Thanks RTID.
As I said, Hoola is much more in need of everyone's thoughts and prayers at this time. Especially as he may have to turnout for the Blades.
-
He's got to be better than Marlon King, to be fair.

Thanks for the pm Hoola. Really pleased all went well. Obviously, being six hours behind it comes as old news to me. By the way the Owls are now fighting the Blades for your services.
-
I've donated to the fund via the PayPal link. Well done for setting this up.
It's at times like this when real issues become the focus of attention and rightly so.
Good luck in your battle Hoola.
-
Very sad to hear about you guys getting this horrible disease.Best wishes to you both. With us experiencing the stress etc due to my wife having experienced a near miss With the big C with lumps in the breast, but given the all clear.I can imagine what you and your families are going through.Speedy recovery and prayers from all my family.
-
Thanks Drover, glad to hear the good news regarding your wife. Hoola has had his first major op and seems to have come through OK.
I think what has helped is that we have agreed that no matter how hard they ask he is NOT going to the Weeds.
I do think that everyone should be checked on a regular basis, something which I didn't do, I have to admit. I thought I had the symptoms of a Kidney stone, but am pleased they found it now.
-
Would just like to wish all the best & a speedy recovery to Hoolahoop & newyankee. Donation made.

All the best Hoola. Just incase people don't know if anybody is suffering with Cancer in the Doncaster area, and are struggling for transport for treatment or just want to go on transport where everyone is in the same boat. There is a local charity called Firefly, amazing person who runs it, also suffers with cancer herself. She has 3 buses taking patients & families to western park hospital. I have raised about £5000 for her so far and will continue to do so through the Doncaster business owners. Anybody who needs any info on it and wants to use their services please drop me a PM and i will point you in the right direction.
-
Many, many thanks Donnyplant, it's people like you doing such things which makes the world such a good place.
I know from his posts that Hoola is OK, but there are very many out there without the means to get to and from hospital appointments.
Even though you have a much greater Welfare system than we do in the States, the present economic climate looks like reducing much of that aid. Keep up the good work my friend.
-
Just donated as promised. Thanks to the VSC guys for listening to my call to arms and making this happen.
-
Here is an update on my condition. I have just got back from seeing my Doctor after my second biopsy. I am told that I do not have a tumour that has invaded the baladder wall as was first thought. This means I will NOT need to have surgery as on the initial biopsy they took out the tumour.
I have instead to have a six week course of injections into my bladder of BCG ( I know not what) once a week, and then a booster after 6 weeks of nothing. What a weight to have lifted from my shoulders.
Many, many thanks for all your kind wishes and prayers and may we now put all of our effort into getting Hoola up and running.
Once again thank you to my Rovers family, you don't know what it has meant over the last few weeks.
-
Great to hear, NY. Good to see hools up and running again too.

You lucky sod, newyankee! BCG is Big Cock Growth hormone. You'll be pole vaulting into the Keepmoat for free when your trip is rearranged! Mention it to your specialist next time you are there..... ;)
(glad its good news, pal)

You just don't know how lucky I feel Rob, it's like being reborn, and as they say size isn't everything.
