Don't be shy mate, we are all getting used to translating any random series of letters and words. We're an all-inclusive forum.

He was. He used to disappear about five minutes into the second half so I used to go and sit in the stand then. With the low roof and wooden seats and floorboards you could make a heck of a racket and it was good when Rovers were attacking the Town End in the second half.
Needless to say, it was knocked down soon after the Bradford fire, although (unlike that stand at Valley Parade which I sat in a few times) I never noticed any paper etc under the floorboards.
It was the old main stand from Bennetthorpe and was transported down the road to Belle Vue when Rovers moved there in 1922.

That will explain that whenever i went into the cow sheds it was allways near the end Of the game, so i did not have to pay the transfer

Barker and wigfalls was the Electrical appliances shop on Hallgate.Loved the atmosphere in the cowshed, great when the away teams Goalie was taking a kick,Everyone rattling the boards by kicking, oooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOUUUUUUR SHEEEEEEEEEEEEET! AAAGGGHHHH!
-
Me and my dad used to have season tickets on the back row right in the centre. They even put our names on them. I used to love it up in the cow shed. The old bloke used to wear a black flat cap and was there for years.
-
The noise was made by fans stamping their feet on the wooden floor.
-
I remember sat in the town end stand as a kid we used to bang our feet against the wooded floor it made a great din. I remember one game in particular it was The FA Cup tie versus Penrith I think we won 4-1 & Alan Warboys collected ball on the halfway line & ran head down till he got to the edge of the area and put his curled shot into the top corner. Memory plays tricks but that's how I remember it
-
Remember sneaking in
We always went on Pop side, can still remember smell of ale at bar at back of stand
Second half wait for old gadge to move and into cow shed
-
Half time migration as teams changed goals

It does play tricks Branton, the score was 3-0 against Penrith. The goal description was spot on though ;)
-
I think the thing most people remeber from those days was being able to move around. On ntop of the Kop at the Rosso end in the first half, and then a migration round the back of the pop side stand. Passing all the beer drinkers ridding themselves of the first half quota and then on to the Town end for the second half.
Obviously it worked in reverse if we kicked the opposite way in the first half. Ah, those were the days, my friends.

And that game was played on a day when the weather was so bad, that only 3 of the senior fixtures in England were played, one of which was our cup tie.
-
I don't think we played again after the Penrith game for about a month. It was bloody freezing that day.
I used to love the Cowsheds. The noise when everyone stamped their feet. I may just be getting old and daft but I didn't think there were seats with backs (OP). I thought it was just long rows of wood to sit on.

Now i think about you are correct about the long rows Of 4x4 that was used as seats in cow sheds

I remember being in cowshed against Workington must have been 1961.England beat Scotland 9-3 that day and Workingtons keeper was Scotish.Loved the piss taking when England scored.

Gi orr! There was a bar at the back of the (old) Pop Stand? I only stood in late 80s version. Looks a massive terrace in photos but never heard talk of a proper bar there. Why did we move to Keepmoat? We should have just opened up Pop Side and that bar!
-
Workington wore what in essentially was the England kit in the 70s. Pre- shite nylon type shirts. In the days of sewn on badges.
-
Remember you only could go in centre bit if you paid into seats so few times could squeeze through fence at top
-
TRB/Oslo
Clean forgotten about the old bloke taking payment to get into the Cowsheds. Soon as you mentioned it, it all came back to me, going in there for the last 20-30 mins.
My first memory of the Cowsheds was as a 6 or 7 year old, going in there with my dad for a match against Exeter (I think) in the early 70s. Archive Irvine, Mike Elwiss etc. They looked and played like Gods. Mesters all round screaming them on. And me dad threatened to chin some little scrote who was f**king about.
I was hooked from that moment on.

Had many a pint in the bar at the top of the pop side. If I remember right it was Camerons. Also seem to recall the front was made up of tiny square windows that were that thick you couldn't see out if them onto the pitch. Think it closed in the early 80's.
-
Yep, I was too young for beer, but I used to queue up with all the 'mesters' so I could get a Bovril.

Give up Martin, you're older than me, I think, and I had a beer or two from the bar at the back of the old pop stand, I reckon that stand had a 10k capacity on it's own in it's hey day
-
From what i recall there was Also a bar down the Bottom Of the main stand
On the RH side as you walked up the tunnel from pitch side.
Or is my memory playing tricks with us head again
-
Popside before and after. Very sad.
-
think it was either 5 or 10 bob to get in the cow shed lol
-
I remember paying 10 bob to the fella in the white coat for an upgrade to the cowshed. Sure he used to give you a raffle ticket. Anyway, vividly remember one cold Friday night, I think it might have been against Stockport and I think Woodcock was playing. We were attacking town end in waves and every time we got anywhere near the goal a packed cowshed stamped their feet and made a right racket. We won and it was part of a six game winning streak that nearly got us in to the top 4 only to fall away after being shafted by Watford and Southend. Happy days.

That tv gantary in the rafters Of the pop side never got Much use di it

Think it must have been more than 10k Filo - the official capacity of BV used to be 45k - an average of more than 11k per side. With the town end being much smaller I think popside must have been theoretically nearer to 15k capacity. Would not have wanted to be in there in those sorts of numbers though
-
I can remember sitting in the cowsheds for a game with Huddersfield on a Friday night game in the early 80's. Thick fog descended just at the Rossington End of the ground and you had to wait for a cheer from the popside to know if anything was happening.
-
From memory it was Cameron's Strong Arm ale in Pop side bar, also served in those hefty tankard glasses that got banned in the old supporters club bar.
When I first went to BV it was 45p for a kid, and I think an additional 10p for the Cowshed "upgrade". But the foot stamping teenage mayhem was worth it.

I was only young and could not make much nosie stamping the floorboards,I soon learnt that I could make the most noise by kicking the wooden boards used to make the long benches we sat on,Kick the bench in front kick the bench underneath Im sat on and vise versa.God it gave me a buzz,so exciting for a young one to experience.

Give over Oslo! That's where the owl lived! Used it all the time he did.

When I was at Belle Vue as a kid, I thought that the cowshed was above a train line and the sudden noise of the stamping was from a train passing underneath. I was convinced for quite some time.

The gantry was built after chairman Frank Wilson bought a film/cine camera.
He gave this to the club so that matches could be filmed and then analysed and. shown to the players.
This was in the 1968/69 season if I remember right.
There would have been some right gems among those films, 4 3 against Chester and 7 0 against Aldershot to name just two.
We would also have had a lot of footage of King Alick as well: talk about lost opportunities.

You're right 1879,I was also in the cowshed for that game, think we won 1-0,scored at the Rosso end but knew nothing about it until people started cheering at the far end of the pop & main stand terraces, also remember a Friday night game against Bolton Wanderers played in similer conditions.Does anyone one else also remember in the middle of the cowshed they built some wooden steps so you could go down to the back of the goal with a metal railing fence either side,as kids we all used to run down the steps if the opposition got a penalty to try & put them off, great memorys.
