Reading a few of these recent threads had me pondering on a few things at Belle Vue and when they happened.
When did the bar close down at the top of the pop side.
When was the Cow Shed taken down.
When was the horrendous fencing put up and dismantled in front of the Rosso End.
When was the roof taken off the original pop side.
Anybody remember exactly ?

I would say some Of them happened after the hillsboro disaster, while a couple after the bradford fire .

The bar closed down around 1982 and was converted into toilets.

There is a photo of the Pop Side stand being demolished in Tony Bluff's book, dated August 1987. The club also had to returf the pitch at the same time as during the winter they used some special chemical to stop it freezing - which destroyed the grass!
-
The Cow Shed was demolished in the summer of 1985, following the Bradford Fire.
-
I remember the popside being closed on the eve of the Middlesbrough home game, final game of the season, when they brought loads to Belle Vue and secured promotion in 1987.
I would have thought the Rosso end would have been demolished around 1984?
-
Wasn't the pop side reduced in size and the roof taken off due to subsidence?

Yes it was, and the fanzine Raise The Roof was formed in order to raise funds to provide a replacement roof but from memory I think it took two or three years.

This thread got me thinking about the old tunnels at OBV, different entrances for the home and away teams. Down the years saw one or two visiting players go down the wrong tunnel, only to emerge again a few seconds later!
I can't think of any other clubs that had 2 tunnels, unless anyone knows better.

Bolton do at the Reebok.

The tunnels at Belle vue oozed history, the fine players and the not so good that brushed past the Red brick work, you just can't get that with the new ground, with the pull out material tunnel, not the same :(

I am sure Leicester's old Filbert Street ground had two but only ever used one where has Rovers used both.
-
Oakwell have the two tunnels and a similar stand to Bell Vue. The players come out from the corner of the away end now.
