I don't know, what are you using? Try a different browser as a first step.

Chrome. Same on IE and Safari.

I found that if I log in I can see the pictures.

NO

I have to log in before they are visible - AND - I cant always log in "Forever" and so I cant read the Forum threads without that s****y VSC  advert popping up

I can select Forever of course and when revisiting I am sometimes logged in still , maybe once maybe twice but eventually I am logged out again and have to Log in again (which of course is not the end of the world) ... and given some of the stuff posted lately on here it is probably better not to look for a while anyway
