Title: JR interview on Sky Sports
Post by: mrfrostsdad on November 09, 2013, 06:46:40 pm
Just been on.
He says he fears the club is going backwards and that he is now on the periphery of what his happening.
He stated that he had come to the table with an offer of tens of millions in investment (didn't say from who) he then says he negotiated an even better deal, which was again turned down by the other directors. He also said he has now found out the others were going behind his back meeting people without his knowledge.

He finally urged the other directors to now come forward and say what they ate going to do with the club.

Not word for word, but the general gist of things

Missed one thing out.
He also said he'd never had such a reaction from the fans as he did today and he found it very moving.
Maybe the other directors would like to make a statement thanking John for everything he's done and giving us an idea of future plans.

Never, Terry Bramall isn't that type of man to do things like that behind JR's back or have one of his representatives have a meeting with SC this week, the board of the VSC are anti-SC and love TB so it couldn't have happened!!
/sarcasm off

And yes the reception JR got from the fans today was superb, just a pity bramall wasn't there (as usual) to hear what they thought about him.

And Just to clear up the conspiracy regarding the timing of his resignation, according to Radio Sheffield he timed his announcement just before kick off so it would not impact on the players before the game!!!!

If he was that worried about the team why not wait until after the game?
He's gone down a lot in my estimation.

Only JR has the answer to that one I think Idler!!! Either way, the timing for me is not the substantive issue, the fact that he's resigned in the first place is a greater cause for concern!!!

I'm sure he did it to see what sort of reaction he got from the fans. I didn't go today for various reasons, the main one being that I'm a bit fed up of watching us get stuffed cos we're not good enough.
I'm sorry I wasn't there because I would have liked to have shown JR I'm 100% behind everything he is trying to do for our club

The point still stands sadly...he was wrong to do it then....but I'm sad he has gone...If he wasn't told he should have been though, even though in a way his presence was irrelevant as he was already signed up to sc...sad day...

No, I couldn't. 180 mile round trip, cold, and on the back of 3 bad defeats. And my daughter came to see me.
But I will be there against Yeovil, freezing my nuts off, another 140 mile round trip when I could be laying on my sofa, drinking beer and watching it on Sky, saving 400 quid on a season ticket.

The VSC isn't anti SC we are anti anything that threatens the future of Doncaster Rovers Football Club which is the reason why we exist.

His timing was no more than a publicity stunt, sorry but he knew it would be on sky otherwise why not do it after the game plus it was mooted in the week that he would do this so im sure the players knew, totally wrong. Never mind how much good John has done this was out of order.

JR's  timing was despicable.

It was timed for maximum effect to damage the board.

Could he not have waited until after the game? Don't you think the team got wind of what was going to happen?

JR is very experienced in how to manipulate a crowd but I don't recall hearing "Bramall out" being chanted perhaps he never got the level of support he thought he would get?

JR does not have 100% support and by the way he handled his resignation he has successfully split the supporters. My guess is that he has passed more support for the board.

The truth will now come out and poor old Gavin may have to say some very unpleasant things about certain goings on.

One has openly admitted to not even being a football fan so I think that answers your question in part, the other one appears to be a lifelong fan but wasn't forthcoming to give John Ryan a dig out when we dropped into the conference!

I have to say Alex that no time is a good time for John Ryan to go, except perhaps to hand over to a wealthy new owner.  Actually he has handed over to two very wealthy men who may have the money, but do they have the drive and ambition to take the club forward ?

What would be strange would be if, Bramall and Watson did sell out to Sequentia leaving JR in no man's land.  It makes for a very interesting International break, because, hopefully, before it ends we need to have something in place.

As you know NY I said before the game I didn't want John to go in this way. Don't you think Young Dicky and the team knew what he was going to do. There was a better time ,say Sunday, would have been better instead of telling certain supporters what he was going to do to get maximum support .

I have a feeling that it won't be a clean break so we had better rig for some rough weather ahead.

My fingers a crossed that we now go on a winning run so the club can over it.

JR left tarnished as far as I am concerned and I am very sorry to say that.

Not just as chairman, in his words "i have gone", so direrctor status too. So, the others can step up and fill the void. Yes he still has major shareholding, but no say in how club is run.

I doubt Gavin has had his hands tied, he's been a part of the team, I expect he will be expected to take on more responsibility now.

Who do you think tied them? It isn't rubbish but more seeing past the end of your nose. He will take on more responsibility but only what he was employed to do in the first place and that is far from rubbish.

You was the one who said he was working with his hands tied behind his back.............Maybe you can enlighten us as to who tied his hands seeing as you seem to know what happens at the club.

Had his hands tied behind his back?
He's had more autonomy than any other person in his position employed by the club.
Who do you think came up with the plan to give the money to the Dons?

I cant remember the last  time I heard Terry
Bramall speak to the fans about anything . So It will interesting to here is voice NOW! Or are we not important enough to hear our NEW Masters voice.

Does Roman Abromovich?

Not much of a comparison. Last thing we want to see as owner is owt like creepy Dr Strangelove and his dodgy billions.

In all likelihood the chief exec may have the power to do that. Or it comes from majority decision on the board perhaps?

It wasn't a comparison, I could quote Liverpool. Tottenham. Arsenal, Everton, Man City/Utd etc... their owners don't make public statements they employ others to do so.

I remember hearing TB in the pre season meeting. He said they would never do anything to jeopardise the longterm future of the club.

Like refusing to put anymore money into the club whilst a certain manager was at the helm? Yeah right!!!!

Savvy

I posted a few days ago, with a list of what our squad was in 10/11, a season in which we ended up with a £7.5m wage bill. We had one player in the entire squad who anyone was prepared to pay money to take off our hands. We had others who we would have given away 12 months later, but we were paying them so much that no other club would take them.

Perhaps Bramall had a point? Give that the previous experience of living the dream would have bankrupted the club if Bramall hadn't been underwriting things, perhaps he's right to question Ryan's judgement on SC?
