what are we going to do about our inability to score goals BEFORE the Yeovil game?
-
DURING the Yeovil game is more of a concern to me ;)
I think we have a manager who isn't scared of making bold changes if there are problems, I think we may see changes from the recent line up, or a different approach.
This surely has to be THE game for a nailed on three points if there is one.
-
I think Paynter has to start. Brown works his b*llocks off, granted, but Paynter - although it takes him a few goes to find it... - knows where the goal is.
-
Is this the only TLO v TLO in our season?
-
My concern for some time is that, in my view, we do not get to the byline often enough and put in crosses for the likes of Brown and Robinson to knock in. The persistent habit of launching the ball down the middle to Brown's head for a knockdown which no one ever picks up is pointless. This is partly due to the fact that we do not have a natural left footed wide man available and so we end up playing Duffy down the left with the inevitable result that he cuts inside with the ball, all too predictable. Although this shouldn't prevent us from using the wing more on the right. When we have done this we look far more threatening.

As I said a few days ago I think we're crying out for a Syers type player if we're going to persist with this system.

I disagree, Brown has an amazing ability to find our players with his knock downs, what they then do with the ball however. .......

all these wingers on the books and we don't often get to the bye line .. get fit soon Forrester and maybe we can ship out the non performing Bennet for the whole season to help finance Macheda for the season?

I think thats a "nail on the head" comment there. We're full of skill and passing in front of the oppositions back four but rarely do damage despite having wingers with tricks to burn. There's tempo there so its not like we're just going through the motions but I think we've got to make a concerted effort to really turn teams round. And whilst we may criticise their defensive positioning, I think Wabara and Yun could be crucial for that too.
I chuffin' hate the international breaks.

No, Bournemouth, dingles, and possibly hudders have that accolade too

Paynter has goals in him, he needs a chance as Theo is off the boil.
Syers is missed in my opinion too, he would be the one picking up Browns knock downs.
-
Paynter needs to start, the lads a natural goal scorer which is what we are lacking only makes sense to start him. I don't care if he doesn't chase the ball over the park he's a striker. We shouldn't want him chasing the ball that's why Browny doesn't get as many goals as he should because he's too busy chasing down lost casuses.

We never get behind teams. O'Grady got in behind us half a dozen times himself on Saturday. That diagonal run he always makes behind the fullbacks is dangerous. His team mates know he will be making it so find him regularly. Theo has the pace to do this but we are just not set up in a way to do it. We are not really set up in a way to do anything. Our shape defensively was at least good in the first few games but that's gone now. The players look like they don't know what they should be doing. 4-2-3-1 is a good formation if you can keep the ball, we don't.

At the start of this campaign Browny and Theo were an handful and were scoring too. They both played up front then. It looked good, and we all hailed them both.
Co-incidentally we also played very well for the first 10 games, regardless of the result.
It worked then (up front and all over the pitch) and we can hopefully make it work again. PD needs to stop tinkering and know what his best team/formation is and stick with it or give it a damn good go. Our change in fortunes seem to have come since we started tinkering with formations and line ups (admittedly it cannot be helped with injuries).
If we find that form from the first 10 games, then we will be ok. The good thing is, is that we can do having proved it then.
