@liamhodenDFP: Rovers to face Charlton: Turnbull, Quinn, Khumalo, McCullough, Wabara, Coppinger, Wellens, De Val, Duffy, Macheda, Paynter #drfc

Hope Paynter grabs his chance!

Interesting line up.  De val is a bit of an unknown (and will be to Charlton) and Billy will be looking to cement his place.

Liking the changes too, not that we had much choice. Copps for Cotterill is a good move. Also nice to see the 442 return too. Hope Paynter and Macheda can link up well

Hamer is the Charlton 'keeper.

Was just about to post. Hopefully he won't be able to play.

Just had a quick look on their forum, they're calling it a must win game a bit like we we're Friday night. Also they've gone 4-4-2 also can see plenty of goals tonight

BBC London is feeding the 5 live extra commentary, hence the Charlton bias - not so much in reporting the action, more in talking about the players etc..

Loved the Charlton commentary last time round :) The woman was class.

Just sent in a complaint about the Sports Extra commentary being too Charlton focused. I apreciate its from Radio London, and great they have it on at all, but still, not the right quality for BBC.

Not quite.  First 25-30 mins under the cosh, then getting back into it and creating chances before Charlton scored, followed by a couple of chances to equalise.

I'd say we're still in this one....

It's only one Nil. We still have a couple of players getting adjusted to the game in De Val and Paynter. Keep it to the same score 60 mins in and I'm sure we'll get some chances with the home team not knowing whether to stick or twist.

Of course I'm being optimistic but what the hell, it's a game of football !

As Glen said on the commentary, being sharper on releasing the ball is key - and he reckons we're doing that better this half. Last Friday we played a lot of the game like we had dementia. This team really can do better.

I am surprised you find it amusing  that we have needed championship defenders for four weeks and PD cannot get them because he is being held back. Tonight's result is not good but he is trying to improve the side and at the moment he cannot, let's hope before Thursday evening he can.

Listening to Dickov, it has nowt to do with being allowed to sign anyone, it's to do with other clubs not letting their players out on loan so close to Xmas period.

Eh well. That result was written in the stars the moment the original match was called off.

Take it on the chin and move on. If someone had offered us 4 points from the last 3 matches, I'd have taken them. We're not going to be strong this season (especially with the injury crisis). We're looking to scrap and pox out way to 46-48-ish points. We're currently just about on target to do that. We're not bad enough to be basket cases. We're not good enough to stay up comfortably. It's going to be a frustrating and unpleasant ride.

If you're up for the ride, buckle up and deal with it. If you're not, get your moaning out of your system now and shut the f**k up for the rest of the season while the Mesters deal with it.

With key injuries, which we're bound to have during a season, it was always gong to be a tough ask.

Let's get a bit of perspective. We're not in a good place at the moment and we've got to get through a number of fixtures by patching up the team. Syers scored again tonight, so the sooner we can get him or others back to give us an energy boost the better.

I think PD must just concentrate of working on the basics and not getting ahead of himself by constantly changing formations etc. Discipline is another area he needs to get a grip of. No cheap free kicks in dangerous areas. No petty pulls and pushes and silly bookings.
Title: Re: Charlton Athletic v TLO Donny Rovers
Post by: Viking Don on November 26, 2013, 09:55:50 pm
Let's hope we've got some mesters to deal with it eh, the ST holders will be there regardless I reckon, so we are allowed a bit of a wednesday grumble from time to time.

I personally don't care if we get relegated, it's fun times next season when we win most games hopefully.

Ups and Downs. Stuff the in betweens.
