Title: Best mobile phone/networks
Post by: colin cramb on January 04, 2014, 12:00:36 pm
Hi guys would like your advice on what you think the best mobile phone out there at the min is? After 6 years of having Blackberry's i've had enough of them my last one has been a disaster,.

Of course the easy option is to get an i-phone, im a bit of a techno-phobe so a bit scared of the apple phenomenon!! All my mates have them and they love them, any advice on any other make or model?

I use my phone alot always on twitter facbook internet etc I've always had contracts with Unlimited everything, any advice on what network to go on been on T-Mobile for years, never had any problems with them but the unlimited everything contract has been rather expensive (around 55 quid a month)

Any advice about any of this would be much appreciated, especially if you've had multiple different models i-phone sony nokia, like i say i've had blackberry's for years and deffo wont be getting one of them, thanks in advance.

Apple make good robust, if expensive kit. What they do do is continually upgrade the OS to make the stuff prematurely obsolete, so be prepared to upgrade regularly.

I swore by I phones for years and had the I phone 5. Unfortunately it got water damaged and I couldnt afford a brand new one so I bought the samsung s4 mini. After having both id say the samsung is much better and a lot cheaper - I love it.

I was the same, wouldn't go anywhere near apple for years, but when it was last time to upgrade I went against it and got the iPhone 4S.

Best phone I've ever had, I didn't think I'd use any apps (with avoiding tweet book and all that shite!), but I am never off it now and use it more for t'internet than I do the laptop.

I'll be due an upgrade in March but I am tempted to keep the 4s because in nearly 2 years I have not had ANY problems with it which I have never been able to say about any other mobile I've had since the trusty Nokia 3210!!

I would recommend iPhone's to anyone and especially with 3mobile as their tariffs are cheapest, especially as they mostly have unlimited internet usage included.

Hope this helps.

I have a samsung 3 and really like the phone.  Contract with tmobile gives me unlimited internet, unlimited land line calls, 600 mins for calls to mobiles and 600 texts.  I get all that for £15pm.  24 month Contract ends in September so I will expect better terms though to be honest it is all I need re useage.

thanks guys great advice, think i might bite the bullet and get an i-phone, quite a few people reckon 4 is just as good as 5, so maybe i'll go for the 4s with unlimited everything shouldnt be too expensive

I'd recommend the iPhone too. If you're wanting to future proof (as far as possible with Apple anyway) then you can get with O2 the same priced contract for 4G as 3G, but for £20 extra up front. Not sure if that's a Carphone Warehouse exclusive though.

I'm sure that I saw an advert in the Car-phone warehouse this morning offering an I-phone 4s (8GB) for £17 / month and no cost for the handset. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to what the package included in minutes, etc.

Hi,

I'd recommend the Nexus 5 and get a sim only tesco 1 month rolling plan.

A lot better value for money than an iPhone with just as good spec + with the tesco rolling plan if something comes out you prefer you're  not tied into a lengthy contract.

I have had every iPhone that has been released, with the exception of the 5S and 5C and I am about to give up on them despite being an Apple nerd.

My current 5 was replaced once 6 months after I bought it due to battery failure/call drop out issues and I have just had to have the battery replaced again after 4 months due to battery failure once again. Don't get me wrong, Apple's customer service is excellent, when there are faults they fix them, but I shouldn't be on what is effectively my 3rd battery after less than a year of buying it. Apparently they are only for moderate use, well I use mine as a phone, as effectively a computer and a hi-fi because that is what they are designed for, with most contracts being 24 months now you'd expect them to be able to last the duration of it.

I bought the 5 outright so its just sim only at the minute, I pay GiffGaff £12 a month and get 250 minutes and unlimited data and texts, they are true to their word with the data, last month I got through about 7GB - this is currently the only thing that is holding me back on swapping to a different phone and getting a contract, aside from 3, who are shite, no one comes close to the kind of data you get with GiffGaff.

hmmm youve got me pondering now jenny!! my contract is up for upgrade next week,  i had more or less settled on getting an i phone 5 16gb with t mobile, 2000 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data for 38 quid a month... (have to pay 70 quid for the phone)

I'm constantly on my phone like you, my current blackberry battery life lasts about 4 hours, i charge it up on my dinner break to get through the day, so im used to poor battery life, might need to look into this again!!

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH  :crying: :crying: :headbang: :headbang:

I've got the iPhone 5s. The battery life on this is the best I've had on an iPhone. That's one of its selling features

The iPhone is fine whatever model you get but DO NOT go anywhere near EverythingEverywhere as a network. Absolute crap since Orange merged with T-Mobile. Network coverage is total rubbish.

Always had an iPhone until recently. However, got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 when my contract came up to renewal, and I can safely say i'll never go back to an iPhone.

The 4g is incredibly fast also, and have no problem with EE's network anywhere i've been.
