I got the album in April 89. Had heard a couple of snippets of tracks on John Peel but hadn't really paid attention so I wasn't expecting too much. The moment I heard the bass coming through the noise at the start of I Wanna Be Adored, I knew that was a life-changer.
Went to see them at Stratford on Avon Civic Centre a month or two later. About 200 people there, but you knew that this was the best band in the world. They had the lot and they knew it. There was 2 hours of banging acid house before they came on stage, which finally segued into that noise and bass intro to Adored and they walked on stage like Gods. The atmosphere was electric, even with such a small crowd. And at the end of the gig, they jammed I Am the Resurrection for 30 mins. For the whole of which this drop dead gorgeous 17 year old lass had her tongue down my throat and her hands all over me.
Eeeh, great days.

Seen Ian Brown solo a few times, but Sunday at Heaton Park for the reunion gigs is up there in top 5 things I've ever done, a proper 'religious' experience
Album just doesnt get old, stands up to be played no matter what the mood
