Chesterfield FC@ChesterfieldFC·22 hrs
We are sad to hear that our record appearance maker Dave Blakey has passed away. We send our sincere condolences to his family & friends.
As well as being Chesterfield's record appearance maker (658 in all competitions) he was also Rovers Chief Scout and Assistant Manager under Billy Bremner.
Chesterfield held a minute's applause for him before yesterday's home game. Hopefully Rovers will also mark his passing on Tuesday. Dave Blakey was 84.

Now on DROS. Well done to them for getting something on there today.

Remember him well. He was a bit of a fixture. Never met him but he was part of the furniture for some time. Sad.

Hope we mark his passing RIP

He was no nonsense. Great scout. RIP.

I remember him playing for Chesterfield against us a few times. He was a big no frills centre half he'd just lump the ball upfield at every opportunity and be very physical as he was very slow.
I don't know if he was any different when he was younger.

Is that Jim Golze with the perm on the right on the DROS article photo ?

Tis Jim Golze indeed

No perm though, Jim always had lots of curls even when we shared a desk at Jossey Lane Juniors
