Title: On Sky on Saturday...... maybe
Post by: yorkshiredale on April 29, 2014, 10:07:45 pm
Just noticed 2 championship games scheduled for Saturday, I feel a trip to a local watering hole is on the agenda

Go for a walk in the Yorkshire Dales Yorkshiredale

Much less stressful ... and result will be the same whether you suffer watching it or not !

Ha Ha no !

I am avoiding all Media voluntarily. Last seasons end was just so stressful and (metaphorically) at the end of the day we will either survive or go down so I am off walkies with the dog - then at 14.15 I will enter a Pub and get the scores...Job done

Sky will go with either:

Leicester v Rovers
Reading v Burnley

OR

Reading v Burnley
Forest v Brighton

Let's hope it is the former.

I think they will concentrate on the play-off places as they will want to plug the fact they are showing the play-offs.

I shall be at Twickers watching the Army v Navy game and 6/8 pints into an ADS by the time the results start coming through.  I shall await notification of the outcomes by mobile...

Wonder what day we'll find out who they are showing.  Sky Sports are doing a half price for 6 months offer at the moment too so might have to take it if we're going to be on  :scarf:

Be cheaper for you to go to the game than get sky sports for 6 months.... No wonder football has fallen into the mess it has.

Not for me it wouldn't.

Cheapest train return from Brighton - £50.50
Ticket for the game - £28
Spends for the day - £10-£15

So thats £88 minimum for the day.

Sky sports for 6 months - £66.

I cant go anyway due to family commitments so if it is on Sky its convenient for me.  Sorry if that offends but hey ho.  Nothing I'd love more than to be there but sometimes other things take priority!

agree with BVG here. Why do some people think it's a choice to stay at home and not go to the game? Some have families, some have jobs, some have other commitments that mean they can't get to the game...

Very true, it's usually kids with no commitments or people with 9-5 jobs Monday to Friday that make these stupid sweeping statements

I didn't want to start an argument or anything.  I know that a lot on here are against Sky and to be fair I can see why as far as the money situation is in the game at present.

But more than anything I want to watch the game so at this moment Sky sports (which I dont currently subscribe to) would be my best option.  If it was full price at £22 a month I wouldn't bother.  But I got an email with their latest customer offers the other day and it half price for 6 months.  So for anyone who cant make the game, this could help at a reasonable price (providing we're on of course  :))

Cherry pick the exact games you want and visit a Pub for a few pints ?

I will do that for tonights Chelsea game and although that may cost more than the Sky package at least you get to drink the beer !

True Donnywolf true :)

Purely on the basis of this Saturday though is I'll be looking after my daughter as the wife will be at work and the rest of the world aka 'babysitters' seem to be 'busy'.  So if we are on it'll be a case of "How would you like to play on the computer for a couple of hours" while I watch Rovers on the TV :)

Can't you subscribe to Sky Sports, then cancel after 30 days?

Yes I think you can actually. Just need to check the small print as its an 'offer' that you dont need to keep it for the whole 6 months

Can of worms opening alert!!!!

Don't you realise that there are hundreds, possibly more, TRUE FANS who for whatever reason cannot afford to get to the game, be that for financial, family commitments or other reasons.

Also, even with the extra tickets we got the other day, we have only 2000. So are you saying we can only have 2000 "true fans"?  You'd be happy with average home attendances of 2000?

You can get sky sports for £11 a month?  You'll have to show me this outstanding deal as they're currently advertising on their website for the package with Sky Sports 1 and 2 (which are the channels in question for watching the game on Saturday) for £43 a month.  Or do you mean £66 per month?

Either way £28 for a match ticket is too expensive in comparison and it's no wonder attendances are dwindling.

Do you like cricket, BVG? If you get it for six months you'll get lots of that.

Thats as a new customer, which is actually a good deal.

I'm an existing customer, so when I click on 'My Offers' one of the options is for the Sky Sports package (£22pm) half price for 6 months (£11pm) on top of what I pay now.

This will make my subscription (TV, Phone and Broadband) £60 per month.  I currently pay £49.

Don't mind a bit of 20/20 (not of the cider kind) but aside from that I'm not too fussed :)

I consider myself a true donny fan, I went home and away for three years between the age of 19-21, but as I live and work in scarborough as a butcher, I no longer have Saturdays free, and I have a little lad and a mortgage to pay for. As much as I wish I could go to Rovers every game still, I'm lucky if I get there twice a season. It's all about financial commitments and priorities.

Thts a bit of a narrow minded statement Vicar

Gone with the two teams fighting for a play off place rather than the two fighting to stay up. Fair enough i suppose.
