Title: FA Ban
Post by: colin cramb on May 21, 2014, 05:08:12 pm
The F.A to ban all professional footballers in english football betting on any football matches in world football!! Dont see how they can decide how player spend their own money, as long as they dont bet on teams in their league i dont see the problem! Its not as if the players wont have family or friends putting bets on for them anyway, no chance of enforcing it, most sides wouldnt be able to field a starting XI if bans came in!!

Not just footballers but all administrators as well.

Bit unfair on the players. I see a lot of players on Twitter talking about teams they have in an acca, Cotterill in particular for us.

As long as its a game they are not involved in I don't see the problem.

I suppose the feeling is probably that players all have mates at other clubs, and so could get them to chuck a game and split the winnings.  At least that's the only reason I can come up with, can't see why else you would ban Premiership player A from having a £20 treble on Barnett, Shrewsbury and Rochdale

If a player wants a bet on football he will get a friend or relation to do it,not many players play for their home town/area team,2 or 3 at club. As long as they are not betting on their club,s game

Perhaps it's just a plan to drive players to be more covert in their football betting habits to save FA the embarrassment and cost of investigating them.

the easy option is to let a mate place the bet for them

Perhaps also to combat gambling addictions too. I read something last year that of the footballers contacting the Sporting Chance clinic (originally associated with alcohol and drugs) that over 80% were now for gambling addiction problems. Too much money, too many things to bet on and boredom on away trips all contributing to this.
