Title: Quality of the new home shirts
Post by: Leebtyler on June 11, 2014, 03:54:47 pm
Honestly...

brilliant, very pleased.

they've learnt lessons, the writing is woven in, rather than stuck on, no peeling letters this year, meaning it is machine washable.

cant wait to use it in anger at the first game of the season  :rtid:

Agreed lee - nicely surprised when it arrived at our house the other day! Looks good in my opinion!

Is it hoops all the way round or is it a solid panel back again?

Hoops all the way! If I have an issue (which I don't) it would be that the white outline on the red panel on the right cheat side (as you look at it) continues into the white v-neck collar! A very nice shirt on the whole!

I saw it t'other day and was very impressed. Looks like we might be going with black shorts and white socks. After quite a few years now of black and black, I'd like to see us in white shorts and socks. Think it looks a bit more classy.

I'm sure many will disagree.

I'm used to the black shorts now, I was never really sold on the red/white hoops with red shorts combo.  I think we wore black shorts by accident in League 1 a few seasons ago when the ref deemed that our mostly red kit clashed too much with their claret, so we wore their away shorts.  We were shite that day, lost 2-0.

One game I remember well with white shorts was Wednesday away when we won 2-0.

I'd like to see us in the original white shorts and black socks that were worn with the original hooped shirt of the 1930's.

The sponsor is still ironed/stuck on isn't it?

Also, next year will fans actually be able to design and choose out own shirt, or will they lie and pretend again?

If you look closely you'll see I already have posted non-moaning posts :)

It's true though, the shirt is not the same as the fans decided or voted on?

Oh and it's an observation rather than a moan :p

Black shorts must be a must ,because When you go on holiday

If you had white shorts on and jump into the sea or pool When you
Come out the down fall is not a pretty sight

Why is the shirt different to the one the fans voted on?

It's a serious question WC - the final shirt is not the same as the design everyone voted on is it?

It's not even the same one as the one in the promotional shoot either.

The club didn't even realise it was different until today when they received a phone call pointing it out!

Avec are awful!

(Apologies if that's classed as a moan).

No BCS it's a valid question of that I'm not disputing....It was meant as a light hearted comment that if I had to guess who was going to ask it first...I knew it would be you

I could be wrong because I haven't seen the shirt in the flesh, but looking at pictures it seems that the shirt being sold has the colours reversed on the sleeves.

Really is embarrassing if it's the case. Putting the designs and the promotional shots up, and then the shirt on sale being completely different.

I wouldn't be surprised to go into the club shop and find they're selling the new shirt with green shorts and purple socks.

Well, to be fair, Steve did get there first WC.

That's irrelevant though.

What's of interest to me is why have we ended up getting a shirt that is different to the one the fans voted for? What was the point of the whole voting procedure?

Dagenham - look at the sleeves on the two shirts:

Which one is the one fans are receiving?

Wonder how they made the mistake. Find it quite funny!

It seems that the one that is on sale is the top one (predominantly white sleeves).

FWIW... this is the image from the vote.

Ahh right, I prefer the white sleeves anyway to be honest so that's me happy!  :scarf:

It's poor that it changed who knows why it did as it's not great.

However it's better than the original anyways.

It would have probably worked best with the right hand sleeve in white and the left in red, given the asymmetric design. IMO.

Still it's a bit poor that they haven't delivered the design as shown.

I'm sure the club will give fans an explanation once they've got one themselves from Avec.

It's not good enough though! Don't tell us we can design & vote on a shirt and then give us something different!

Whatever happens Avec need dropping the first chance we get! Anyone know how long their contract with us was for? We should end it at the end of the season no matter what, as they aren't sticking to their side of the bargain.

I think it was a three year contract to supply shirts. So one more next season.

I thought that too.

With the shit service and product they've dished us up with we should be trying our best to get out of the contract at the end of this season imo.

Last seasons design wasn't like the winning entry either.

It was a mash up of a couple of entries and then they did the thin hoop, fat hoop business to make life easier for themselves with the sponsors logo.

Presumably the club are just going to keep quiet on this and hope:

a) no one notices
b) no one cares
c) it just goes away quietly

Presumably in the list of priorities it's a little bit lower than takeovers and players.

Does the same person sign the players, run the club shop, edit the website and deal with takeovers?

Wowzers.

I think its been filed under FACT! actually.  Interesting that Crystal Palace have dropped them for the coming season.  I'll add this to the agenda for the next meeting with the club (early next week).  Just Sports need to account for this.

to answer the point raised earlier.

the sponsors name IS NOT stuck on this year, its woven into the top, so much better and like the older versions of the top last time we were in league 1.

for the record i prefer this to the original design, im sure it was changed by executive decision, probably at the request of One Call i would guess, cant see AVEC just doing it without someone knowing.

either that or the work experience kid just got fired...

in short yes.

iron on sponsors logo.

they then sold MY pre-order and paid for shirt to someone in the shop on the saturday they were released because they felt it would be inappropriate not to....

and no, i didnt just make that up, i still have the email from them... let that sink in, they sold the shirt, i paid for on credit card to another person who just wandered into the store, because they felt like it.. then made me wait for mine... wasnt until the second game of the season i finally got it, then the lettering peeled off...

they did mention something about vouchers for the club shop, cant recall if i ever got them though.. fuzzy on that bit, so i have no trust of just sports tbh.

for some reason it didnt copy my text.

yes its the same ones... just sport.

the same company who sold my PRE ORDER shirt to another fan, even though id paid for it on credit card in advance and  been billed, because they felt it would not be appropriate to keep it off sale... yes really, i still have the email.

when i did get it 2 weeks after the first game of the season.. the lettering peeled off... peed off was not the word, i have no trust for just sports whatsoever.

remember Shaun had to step in and resolve it, otherwise i would have take fists to peoples faces in the club shop.
